@mckviking

With respect, who do you think (TV Company) in their right minds would offer a TV deal to a 'nothing' league? That's why Clubs, WV included, are streaming their games on various media platforms.

Of the 9/10 weekly Championship games attract an aggregate attendance of about 10k (and that is being generous, and we are at home). What viewing figures do you think 'THE CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS' would get?

Paulie xx

@7-vikingnomad it would level the playing field for sure which makes a more competitive league. The championship needs to have a tv deal imo

What deal would this be? Which company would pay money to have viewing figures probably only in the 4 digits?

You'd also prob struggle to get them to do it for free with set up costs.

@7-vikingnomad Oldham are rumoured to be paying drinkwater £70k if that's true that's ridiculous money for a club with one thousand fans

You could get 2 decent championship players for that money, who'd be better than dishwater

York, Toulouse and Bradford havent changed that much they were already operating on big bugets in the Championship. Coleman said we couldnt compete budget wise with about 6 clubs. 3 of them are now in SL and Featherstone have gone bust. Now only London and Oldham. Oldham are on about changing the playing model as cant sustain it on 1,400 fans.

Toulouse have virtually the same squad in SL as last season and are doing ok. Huddersfield are woeful and I dont see a future in SL for them. Cas have a good fanbase but a Championship standard team.

Salary cap should be based on revenue, if a rich backer wants to back a Champ team and put say £500k in up front at the start of the season as investment. If they do that and actually give the money to the club you cant force them to be part time as its restraint of trade. If they dont put the money up then dont let them spend it on contracts they cant maintain eg Salford and Featherstone.

Let them spend the money but financial element needs to be more robust. IMG graded the failed clubs higher than Widnes yet with winding up orders pending!

There's absolutely no point in identifying these players at other clubs and offering them contracts at Widnes only to let them go.May as well not bother in the first place.It's all very well saying no great loss but a time will soon come when we need a younger half back.No idea why Hughes couldn't have been given a run out v Goole.It's not like we are chasing promotion anyway given our IMG score and London a foregone conclusion.

How can a club and its team players who have in the past been let down, stop a young talent from opportunities and making a name for himself with another club, because we might need him after the three in front of the que may not play for us?

How would we feel if the shoe was on the other foot? I say get over it, let the lad have a chance to fulfil his potential and his right to play our great game regularly.

@vikingfox71 has he done better than the players who have started? No, so rightly so he is on the bench and comes off.

if he can’t handle that as a professional sportsman then he’s in the wrong game.

your original point was players not getting even in the squad, he’s not part of that group…but he’s clearly thrown his toys out the pram
