@jdgsport Only 250 at the Crusaders Hurricanes. League one is write off

And yet both of those clubs will have the ability to offer more money for players than Widnes.

Don't tell weatesviking, he'll only blame Stuart Murphy.

An amalgamation of the lower leagues seems likely.The third division is unsustainable as a stand alone comp.

Time for a fans forum in the Bridge Suite.

We can make the excuse of injuries to key players, but defeat did seem inevitable even after going 18 points up.

The squad is just not good enough and is certainly too small to make any impact on the top six this season, although I hope that I am proved wrong. Dual registration is not the answer, although we will be relying on it even more for the remainder of this season.

Many fans have written-off this season and will not return unless the Club show some real ambition for 2026. It is ridiculous to read that Crusaders and Hurricanes from League 1 can outbid us for players.

It is all well and good demanding the Club link up with some wealthy business owners willing to invest/throw money away to try and buy success, but is the money in the town. Any investment/donation would be welcome, but surely in the longer term the Club needs to be sustainable financially without relying on hand-outs from a wealthy donor.

Maybe the Directors should be thinking about how they can raise awareness/interest around Halton and surrounding areas to increase attendances gradually to say a target of 7,000. Maybe linking up with the Bowler will bring in a few fans, who may well stay in the Bowler anyway. Maybe there could be a move to sell shares to fans and potential fans in the town, giving them a  say in the running of the Club. Maybe a positive promotion of VIPS around the town and at games, with a guarantee that all funds raised will be used on strengthening the team. What is the Club doing (along with other Clubs outside SL) to remind the RFL that the games does exist (but only just) outside SL and demanding an equitable share of central funding to all teams.

I believe that the Club needs to be more transparent with fans about its plans and ambitions for the Club; and what it is doing to ensure the Club is financially sustainable in the future.

Having got that off my chest, I did enjoy the game yesterday, with some good exciting rugby played by both teams. Just what is the RFL doing to promote/sell the game below SL?

@jdgsport

james - yes understand the idea was to have 3 leagues of 12, but it’s the mechanics of how it is done

previously was bottom 2 down, top one from league 1 up and a playoff retweet (then) 12th place against winner of league 1 playoffs

which meant that the winner of league 1 had automatic promotion, but with new system no automatic promotion €?
also now with Cornwall no more not sure where that leaves the league set up - would not surprise me if they go back to 2 divisions or the mooted SL league of 10 and the rest can do one
