Not sure where to start
great first 20 minutes then York score - is the referee not allowed to give offside in front of the kicker any more ?
then injury after injury, probably our best ball players
second half good effort then we lose hall, who I thought was very good today, also maizen and Murray - fozzy his usual performance
then a York knock on followed by 2 forward passes and they score
game over
but the lads stuck at it and the score does not reflect their efforts
next week will be hard - have we got any returning players ?
patten, langtree, plus the mysterious new signing
We love to make it hard for ourselves don’t we!
thought we played really well but the writing was on the wall when Gilmore and Owen’s followed by Johnstone and hall left the field. The attack was very poor and pedestrian after the injury’s but I don’t think that excuses Joe Lyon’s performance he’s meant to be a halfback and he offers absolutely nothing I almost feel sorry for him because he is just not good enough.
How long off are these new recruits 😳
@johng couldn't agree more when we lost the players hall and I can't believe I'm saying this gregson stood up and played as half's but Lyon's display was inept from the one halfback left for us terrible display but I thought the lads couldn't do anymore with only one bench player all second half
At 18 nil up in the first quarter, we lose our Holy Trinity (Gilly, Owens and JJ) the effect that had on any game plan was massive, as the substitution options were then in tatters. Bent did 80mins, and was my MOM for that reason. He won't need Horlicks, tonight. Referees are not cheats, but some give, or don't give, strange calls. The man in the middle today, really needs to have a good look at his game.
On to Toulouse (if we have enough players)

I thought Joey Lyons did more than okay today, on his own for most of it. But if you need a cat to kick, then crack on. No problem.

@pauliewalnuts We must’ve been watching a different game I was watching the one where we didn’t score a single point in the 2nd half he threw an interception off a tap restart give a drop off to a prop on the 5th tackle and then couldn’t tackle the York playing letting him go 50 meters up field oh and let’s not forget the balls he kicked dead for 7 tackles sets… but yeah he played alright!
@johng Harsh to pick out Lyons. York could number up on him knowing everything had to come through him. He was playing with two different loose forwards playing in the halves with him and off the back of tired forwards.
He’s clearly not the answer, but harsh to single anyone out today. Any team in the world would struggle once they lose their centre, half back and hooker in the first 20 minutes.
We’ll see how serious the club are this week because they have to bring players in. Have to. No more excuses.

Each to their own, that's the beauty of the Forum. Joey Lyons will be playing next week. Better suck it up as there are no other options. To blame him that we never scored a point in the 2nd half is ridiculous. It was every week under Dennis Betts, if you remember rightly? 7 tackle sets are inevitable in every game of RL, and he missed a tackle. No player is perfect, otherwise they'd be in a higher division, one thing with JL is, he won't go hiding.

And that’s the issue right there just happy with mediocrity. Joe Lyon’s wouldn’t start in any other championship team yet he plays for us week in week out season after season, I agree the loss isn’t all down to him however I can point out how poor he his in the halves and how little he creates I thought the two loose forwards offered more attacking go forward than him. But I will agree with you on one thing he will start next week and will probably start every other game we have and I’ll have to suck it up sadly as nothing will change anytime soon👍🏻
Was Gilmore and JJ both head injuries? If so out of the Toulouse game. Owens was his ankle, he couldn't even run on it so 6 day turnaround you would assume he's out. Felt sorry for Lewis Hall, had a great game, his ankle when coming off looked really bad, I wonder if its the same one he's just come back from 4 months out on.
We are virtually out of players, don't know why Lawton didn't play, but if he's back with Towse and Lloyd and Patton comes back I make it as 17 players, just for next week! Ince, Langtree and Flemming are a good way off.
Yes hopefully Lawton, Towse Lloyd and patten back
not sure patten is fit but if not we have very short numbers in the halves - assuming Gilmore and Owens out
fozzy possible but if Johnstone out that’s a no - Lyons did cover 9 at start of season but same problem
ok Lyons didn’t have his best game but the team were up against it after the 3 injuries.
if we don’t get anything out of next week I feel that is season over and we have to plan for next year
@berkeleyviking If we don't get anything out of next week it could be the middle 8's. Top 6 is the play offs, 10th to 13th into the middle 8's and 7th to 9th its season over.
The RFL haven't released much info on the format of the middle 8's to be honest. I think it's between us and Sheffield for 10th spot. The run we are on, squad size, having next to no props and the injuries we have just picked up puts us at risk of finishing 10th. I mean we are currently 9th and face Toulouse next, so 10th is very realistic.
At least Sheffield lost too.....
We were very good until the injuries- I have no big problems with the attack in this instance when we had 1 hooker and a loose forward playing half-back- we at least had a go.
Defensively though there were some soft tries- the 2nd one in particular comes to mind when the lad was allowed to pass the ball off the ground, the 3rd too.
We have struggled more defensively this year. 3 out of the last 5 home games we have conceded 30+ that is my big concern....
Really good 20 minutes. Absolute shite 60 minutes to follow.
Never mind injuries. That was not acceptable. Even I am getting fed up with watching crap now. Coleman is not the answer
