WVIPS Meeting

It be interesting what comes out of the WVIPS meeting with Alan Coleman and the team. Hopefully a plan to improve our team and fan base. Seeing if any other investors to the club, so to get us to the next level. Salford v Leigh having a full house shows if got a decent investor anything is possible. Unfortunately this IMG just favours Super league clubs with the system.

This shows being in Super league gets you more interested. Leigh and Salford in a pointless Championship game would get sod all fans. This IMG needs ripping up as unfair on Championship clubs.

There were approx 30 people in attendance and lasted over two hours. AC was very honest in his answers about himself as well as the club and thanks everyone for their support from day one. He wants people to enjoy their experience at the ground and then this will grow the fan base, he’s passionate about community rugby with over 250 kids signed up and in the long term some will sign for the club.

Dixon and Walker were not staying and had offers from other clubs so let go and both keep in touch with him weekly which gives the club great respect with some players asking can they come here!! Players he is bringing in will improve us and we will finish higher than this year, 80% staying, three clubs want to duel reg with us and five players offered bigger contracts at other clubs but are staying.👍If we beat Barrow then our game at Bradford is shared gate and some of next years games are destined for Friday or Sat evening to avoid clashing with football games.

He has apologised to the ref and the RL for approaching him on Sat as he thought some of the decisions were wrong. Riley to make debut on Sunday AND next year 27-28 players

Just a few notes, hope it helps

@martin

Thanks for the report, Martin.

I think Coleman is the best signing we have made since Matty Smith!

It would be interesting to know who the 5 players choosing to stay are, and which clubs were offering the higher wages. Of course we will never know, and quite rightly so.

I will be joining WVIPS this week as impressed with this Martin. Just to enjoy a team playing for each other is wonderful. Unfortunately  good friends of mine have stopped going the games, which I do miss them. But I respect there choices, because everyone has different hobbies and interests. At least being involved in the community will help things. 💪👍

Back "in the day", Jon, all games were on a Saturday afternoon apart from a few on Friday evening.

It seems strange to me to watch on a Sunday!!!

Sounds more hopeful than we've had for a long time! Thanks Martin!

Some supporters just want the top SL prize, that's their choice1 but they're not part of the recovery if they stay away.

Widnes have had a 'golden' twenty years or so in my time but that was never going to last forever.

I just love the game, at whatever level and if my support can get us back up, great!!!!!!

Whatever you do or try there is always someone to complain. You don't here football fans moaning about Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night games at various times. In my opinion I will go whenever I can mate. 👌👍

@pascal I'll probably still go too, but I have other commitments and responsibilities which aren't too easy to change. It's really not helpful for me - perhaps it will get 2,500 extra people back in the ground - that would will be brilliant....but Friday/Saturday games won't encourage me. I'd hope they'd give a breakdown of how many matches are involved before I re-new my season ticket. Sorry to be 'always someone to complain'.

Regarding the Fri/sat evening games he stated that the Football fixtures are out already and when ours are released there will be a chance to cross check them and avoid our local clubs fixtures. A Sunday football game could be deadly for our club with us losing loads of spectators. It does make sense but all around someone is going to be inconvenienced.

I wonder whether the players offered more money got that offer from Oldham. Its going to be interesting having a competitive Oldham in the division next year, another team looking for payers based in the region..

No worries mate it wasn't personal just you can't please everyone. People work shifts and could miss a Sunday game then it be good on Friday. There is nothing perfect to please everyone. I have just joined WVIPS and I buy season passes for kids because I want the club to succeed. Not everyone can afford things, but every little helps. Hopefully you can still go many games and if you miss a few you could say that Season ticket is in place rather than joining WVIPS. 😂👍 Enjoy the rugby and Coleman is the best coach we have had for a long time and deserves our support. 💪
