Don't we have to complete an application form etc first?

Silence is golden, they say, but looks like a months subs were missed. I guess all will be revealed in due course, there were security checks to be carried out so that could take time.

My query was to make sure that it wasn't my error!!!!

Came through tonight

Update on WVIPS:

Good news. We are close to launching!

It has taken a little longer than we would have liked, but almost everything is now in place.

All internal procedures, GDPR compliance requirements and our Privacy Notice, have been agreed.

Our bank account is now open and GoCardless is set up.

All trustees have been DBS checked and appropriate insurances arranged.

An initial email has been set up to contact the scheme;

admin@widnesvips.co.uk

We will be looking to obtain prizes/experiences etc from the club and other sources, to use for a regular draw for members to win.  More details to follow.

We are aiming to have the final piece of the jigsaw - the website and social media channels - in place shortly

Where was this printed, Martin, and who was it sent to?

Not sure what you mean by " This came through tonight."

@sunny  i also got an email last night. It gave an email address but my response just bounced back as non deliverable. I guess they have contacted people who  up to the previous version just to reassure us they have not forgotten. I know 1 months payment has been missed but these things do take time  &  IMO we need to cut them some slack. Things are obviously progressing in the background but their e mail needs sorting perhaps.

Hi Sunny, it was just a message that came through to me yesterday evening. I’ve not tried to contact that mail account but would appear they are moving on, a little slower

(probablyDBS checks are the reason for slowness) than expected but coming together.👍👍

Thanks for the information, Martin and geoffw, it's just that I haven't received the email you both refer to hence am not up to date with what is happening.

Like sandgroper, I wanted to make sure the "error" wasn't mine.

I will now sit tight and wait.

NEW WIDNES VIKINGS SUPPORT SCHEME KICKS OFF

A new independent scheme to support player recruitment and retention at Widnes Vikings has been launched.

Widnes Vikings Independent Player Support, or Widnes VIPS, will offer a platform for fans to make regular contributions to the rugby club. Although it replaces a similar scheme run by VIQI, which ended in august, there are a number of differences.

Every two months, prizes will be on offer to members. Some of these will literally be rewards that money can’t buy! All those signing up to the scheme before the end of day on 15th December 2023 will be entered into a free draw to win a 2023 season shirt, signed by the players.

Every penny of member’s contributions will be earmarked for the club. All prizes will come either from Widnes Vikings or paid for through corporate sponsorship of the scheme.

Widnes VIPS is a not-for-profit organisation, run entirely by an unpaid board of trustees. To ensure we are completely transparent, an annual AGM will be held to which all members will be invited.

Commenting on the launch, Chair Anne-Marie Hughes said

“As a group of fans, the board of trustees all realise what a difference support such as this can make to the club and we were sorry that VIQI was unable to continue after providing such a lot of financial assistance. It has taken us some time to get everything up and running from scratch, but we’re delighted that we are now ready to launch”.

We’d like to thank Widnes Vikings for offering to provide prizes for our members, particularly as we are completely independent of them. Of course we will work in partnership with the club to provide those vital extra funds.

Full details of how to join, scheme details and lots more can be found at our website:-

www.widnesvips.co.uk

Kind regards

Andy Lee

WVIPS Secretary

Well after all this time it’s now up and running. Just gave my DD details
