Decent performance on Saturday I thought considering it felt like Gilmore first game again. I thought we defended well and were quick off the line to meet them which has been a weakness in other games. Good result!

Real topic of the post from me though is the positioning of our fans away from the cameras to make us look unsupported! For most of the game we saw empty stands and only before and after each half did we hear our fans singing. So if you’re the RFL you know first game on won’t have many neutral fans so why not put the playing teams fans front and centre to give the impression of a fuller ground rather than an empty one? A cynic might think it’s to de rate us in the eyes of the IMG scoring as from the coverage we saw, many other teams appeared had bigger and more vocal travelling support than us - which we obvs know they didn’t!

RFL showing their true colours again!

I've heard some anti-Widnes conspiracy theories over the years but this is the best for some time.

JJ changed the game when he went to hooker, brought the runners on every time. Why he is played at LF is beyond me. Gilmore was the difference he did the basics correct like drawing the man before passing the ball and was aware what was round him all the time. If we could just get a creative stand off alongside him then things may start to happen.

Did anyone else prebook parking at the park & ride next to the stadium? I paid £10 for the privilege but on arrival was told by the stewards it’s meant to be free, so I can claim the money back from the RFL.

Has anyone done this? I’ve emailed the RFL with a copy of my payment confirmation but not heard back yet

@wetherby-viking I sympathise with you. The parking  set up was very confusing. I was hoping to park in a residential street nearby but on arrival to find the complex is mles from anywhere 7 only parking i could find  was  near the ground next to park  & ride car park. On entering I was told park up then pay on line on my phone. Then only to be told by another official "just told  my boss has just told me if you park over there (pointing) it is free" I asked " are you sure is it not vehicle number plate recognition? I do not want a £50 fine." He assured me & 100 yards further on  I checked with another Parking steward & he said the same so I have taken the chance & got it for free. Still got my fingers crossed though! I arrived at 12.10 if had been earlier I would have paid too as decision only made then it seems.

To make the decision to let people park for free at the last minute is ridiculous. This should have been decided on one way or the other weeks ago.

I just watched the first half again and although we are all happy with the result it looked like swinton were an unorganized team. A lot of ex widnes players, when Dan Norman came on he didn’t seem to do too much. Let’s hope we can use it as momentum going forward

Considering that we rested players who had taken head knocks, from choice rather than regulations, we did remarkably well. Good defence despite the Swinton/Saints collaboration with good attack management.
