I was thinking about mid season recruitment watching Ben Crookes playing for Halifax against us (their best player on the day though we beat them). Some teams have been able to bring in quality mid season and Corey Norman at London probably the best signing any championship side has made.

Well I wasn't confident of a win but never expected that drubbing. And some fans are sorry to see players leaving.Good riddance.

@pascal

No argument there but we don't seem to have any consistency of effort, which is more worrying.

Maybe the flogging in the heat last week took more out of us than we thought? But knock-ons and stupid mistakes etc can't be explained away. Could it be that those who leave will be just indicating that they've had enough!?

Hopefully the exodus will lead to players coming in wanting to prove something about themselves, along with a coach who has the same focus and intention.

The feeling that you have travelled, in very unpleasant weather, and your team stayed at home is never good!

Shocked that we were beaten so heavily, however it probably sums up the season....its the little bits of hope that kills you!

Overall, the damage in the Play Off race was done with the losses to London, Swinton, Whitehaven and Barrow under Kear and probably also the recent loss to York.

NB has done well in the circumstances I feel, but the squad recruited yet again had not proven to be up to the standard.

The damage was done under Kear's tenure, sadly. Without that run of 8 or 9 losses on the bounce, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Whatever happens next week we are now likely to finish 9th as York, Batley & Halifax have winnable fixtures. I worry for next season  as I fear we will have less able players replacing those that are leaving.

However it is my team & shall still be supporting them. COYV

York play Batley next week so one of them will drop points. Bradford go to London. If we can beat Sheffield we could take it to the last day, albeit needing snookers and a very unlikely win at Fev ourselves.

Well who went the game to give an assessment on players performing and not performing? Another poor season and something has to be done at the top to bring a winning culture. There will be less wanting season tickets if recruit more dog crunchie players.

London try. They are beating us down the middle, one big run after another, their big forwards beating us.

This result just shows that the top six is beyond this squad - as we have really known all season.  Two of the last 3 results have also been of concern, too, which despite a few good results, is further evidence that a wholesale clear out is necessary.  The forwards have yet again been battered most of the season, with some sporadic periods of optimism, but the backs have had no chance for most of it, I am afraid.  There are a number of threads on this forum suggesting the coming and goings which are considered necessary on the field, but in essence we need to start signing players in the spine positions who are going to allow the forwards to get on top of 90 percent of the clubs in this division insted of 50 percent of them.  We should then win 80-90 percent of the fixtures insted of circ 50 percent....simples!  Erik  #COYV

Begster I nearly went the game, but I had a feeling lose. This team has had too many piss form performances and glad to see some of them leave. Some are obviously good enough, but a few letting the team down with bad attitude. I  be glad to see some leave because been shite.

York beat Batley, Bradford lose away at both London and Sheffield. We beat Sheffield at home and then Featherstone away!

That's the only way we make the six. Highly unlikely.

@mt They have Norman at half back with over 200 NRL games and Whare in the centres with over 100 NRL games and 20 caps for the Kiwis. Both signed from the French leagues in mid season. I fancy London to do well in the play offs.

I don’t know why widnes weren’t in the market for those players? Surely we can match the playing budget of London who have a much smaller fan base and don’t own their ground
