I would happily pay into a new scheme if they come out with a plan to get rid of the millstone of the stadium build another smaller one as runcorn linnets and Sheffield have
Pie in the sky. Sheffield haven't built it. Someone else has. The Eagles are just a tenant, no different to Widnes RLFC at DCBL.
Regarding the finances - it's perhaps a reflection on the poor communication and current apathy towards the clubs 'vision' that we repeatedly see people fearful over money or spreading rumours.
As far as I'm aware, the club is relatively solid and sustainable. There are no worries over finances. Now, of course they're going to have a 100k+ yearly hole now VIQI has gone, but perhaps they'll cut their cloth accordingly on that front.
As for VIQI, perhaps the issue with it was that one person can just pull the plug on it at any time. It's a big blow, there's no doubt. All that has been built up, like the 1000+ members, will be wiped and someone has to start again.
As long as the money is ringfenced in a trust fund I'm would imagine many Viqi members would join a new scheme. Surely it wouldn't be hard to give members a website or app where they could log in and ok various spends from tge funds if they were not usual player retention or signings.
I think a lot of VIQI members joined when the club was faced with closure - I did, had a phone call and signed up straight away
this time it’s different as the club will be running the whole thing
I don't think there is as much passion for the club now, as there was in 2019 when the Circus left us with <£1000 in the bank. The circumstances then are very different to now. I personally think (which counts for nothing) that a lot less will be signing up for the new scheme, as are presently involved with VIQI. I may be wrong, time will tell.
As for generating extra revenue, the Club seems to miss out on the chance of attracting 'moderate' sponsors. I.e; matchball (probably still do, but I can't remember seeing it advertised) long term ST plans (3 season membership, which they did some years back). I'm sure the messageboard users have loads of ideas.

Agree. Still say, we are consistent under achievers as a club, some on here having saying for a week or two the season is a write off already, this is embarrassing for a club like ours. The spin off from that, are fans walking away in numbers, some will not return after years of tripe on the field. IMO, the club are nearing the last chance saloon to retain what we have in terms of support. Getting things right on the field asap is vital or the consequences are not worth contemplating
It can't work this way.The whole idea of viqi was that a group, seperate of the club, would act as treasurer. There was nothing ever stopping anyone sending the club a cheque for £10 through the post, in the years before viqi started.I bet not many did, though.
When do ‘constant under achievers’ actually become something that just isn’t very good ?

We haven't been under achievers since the mid 80's till early 90's when maybe the best team of all time never made it to Wembley, since then we have just been not very good.
“Not very good” is obviously fair comment and I can’t really dispute it but languishing in the bottom half of the second tier is underachieving regardless in my book. And the club needs to be doing everything they can to turn it round whilst we still have a good fan base relative to most at this level.
I Agree with Curedley, Widnes have massively under achieved at this level. We have never even topped the table in the second division/ championship.Even when promoted under Neil Kelly we finished second behind Leigh. Now we are taking routine defeats from bang average clubs with 600 fans.
Not quite sure where Mick & Royston are coming from, (sort of in a round about way) but with all our resources are we not year on year ''consistently'' under achieving?
I think we underachieved in our last Championship spell for the teams we had, not winning a GF and being about 4th/5th in the Cullen and Betts era.
That being said, think we would all take 4th or 5th now!!

What resources we have none you really need to realise we have not been a big club since the 90's. We are where we are and the players are not under achieving they are just not good enough at this level.
If anyone thinks Widnes are not under achieving then why so unhappy with results and performances ?

RL funding, as good a fan base as anybody (up until recently) in the Champioship, half decent sponsorship, VIQI?
