@sandgroper

Before my time but I remember vaguely someone saying that Eric Hughes did some events with the late Ray Clemence?

Do think that Widnes is a melting pot in football terms, Liverpool, United, Everton, City: possibly better to stay clear but as James and others have said, a bit of an outdoor occasion watching the game on the pitch would have been perfect.

Personally I think it’s an ok idea and at least the club have made an attempt to try something regarding extra revenue

Probably wouldn't have been a bad idea if the tops were just plain Blue & Red, but the fact they've incorporated the shirt design into the top has reduced their target audience somewhat.

I can remember us sharing a Benefit event for a Liverpool player at Naughton Park. Great fun and we won!!! IIRC Mick Adams, on the last lap of a relay, waited for them to catch up!!!

I remember going to a Premiership final at Anfield, perhaps early 90’s? I was really looking forward to my first visit to a top flight football stadium, though my only memory of the experience was that of it being my first experience of cages around the stands as we’re at all clubs at that time. Awful.

The cages in UK stadia came down the week after Hillsborough in 1989

The glaring missed opportunity for me is that on all social media posts re; the said shirts/vests, none have tagged either EFC or LFC, sad, as followers of both clubs would see the shirts worldwide. Maybe, just maybe, off the back of that, shirt collectors of both clubs may well have bought one, even if for just bumming around the pool on holiday.

Just a thought

No cages in the 90s. I think that game was a Charity Shield rather than a Premiership Final, might be wrong.

Nobody's interested, we all know they will end up with all the other junk in BOC's lock up.
