Not sure how and what we could possibly do but we need to do something to make the board tell us the truth and what’s going on because from all the rumours and speculation it’s really not good. No coach letting first team squad members leave think JJ is the 5th this season and literally no answers or statements brought out. What could the die hards that are left do to actually make this club take notice of us? Suggestions please
We really do need the board to release a statement with current situation, finances and rumors of decreasing players budget next season looks like it’s going downhill rapidly. I don’t want to see Widnes playing and lingering in the bottom leagues and no fans want to pay £25 to watch that level. Put the club up for sale and see what happens
@mckviking couldn’t agree more. There’s no harm in trying to sell the club because who knows they might even find an investor to help. How do Bradford Sheffield and the rest do so well on small crowds and less money? What is the secret 😂
They know how fans feel and they know this isn’t good enough.
But the bottom line is we haven’t got a benefactor so will always be struggling financially.
My main problem with how the club is run is how they waste some of the money we do have. Paid people to run the club, coaches and some players just aren’t good enough and aren’t value for money.
I feel sorry for the board, because at the end of the day they’re fans, just like us, and it must be hard to implement change because we just don’t have the money to.
@viking25 totally understands the moeny side of things but the mistakes that are being made are very avoidable and rectifiable they just don’t seem to listen or take note, tough pill to swallow but they need to ask for help not shy away
@johnno I think they do listen, letting Kear go was surely part of listening to fans.
But I agree, there does need to be more communication even if it is bad news, at least tell us.
Their big decision making is my main issue with the board- they’ve put their faith in the wrong people. Including current employees.
Whatever goes on, I just think we’ll be going round in circles until we find someone who will invest, because at the minute we’re just surviving as a club.
Good post what annoys me I pay my bloody season ticket every year and the way things are going I won't be interested next season. All I want is the board to listen to the fans because without us there is no team. How do Batley, Sheffield and teams with much less fans do better than us? VIQI was doing well and if had meetings with us in a honest manner we be more helpful. Transparency has pissed me off as non existent and more season ticket holders won't buy one next year if this carries on. Is the plastic pitch not helping with recruiting too? Questions for the board and Council to address to attract players. We also need them to put up for sale to the media if can't manage the costs to be competitive My big question is how the fudge Batley and Sheffield manage to do so well, and us crunchie with a decent fan base?
Hope this Hamilton not another James Rule type I am bloody sick of these people doing fudge all for our club.
Already talked to three friends who have been going for 30 years, who will not be renewing next year. And I can imagine this isn’t isolated to just them
I don’t think the board are making drastic mistakes if I’m honest. They’re not transparent, but the money just isn’t there. The season ticket money isn’t there barely, the central funding is how much now ? There’s no benefactor. This is the issue.
no new coach can turn this around. We’re planning on next season already (hoping it’ll be played in the championship) but big, big changes needed to that team
I don’t care about back room staff, bar staff, who hands the soup out pre match or any other niggly cost swinging against us. It matters what happens on the pitch. That’s it. That’s all that’s ever mattered. Get that right and focus on the rest. and in the 30 years of being on this planet, there don’t seem many seasons we’ve got this right. Nothing else matters if you can’t get step 1 right.
it’s not up to the fans to go and get that investment. If they wanted to take the responsibility and save the club, it’s up to them. And if it becomes apparent they can’t secure that investment, in any way how, it’s time to find someone who can.
time to be ruthless. The pain of watching that disappointment every year is too much to take and based on the current trajectory, I don’t think it’ll be all that long until we could be competing in league 2.
Save this great club and I’m hoping the board really give the fans something to shout about soon.
@pascal that’s exactly what I can’t get my head around, there’s us loyal fans they rely on for season ticket sales yet they treat us like idiots and don’t say anything they just let the journalists tweet it out. Unless pushed into a corner the club say nothing. Batley Sheffield and the others are just ran alot better it’s not like we’re new to this league either we know ex superleague players struggle and yet we still sign them, we need proven championship players who know how this league goes, that’s why batley etc do so well,
The last thing the board need to do is listen to fans. Fans are fickle and rash in their decisions. I’ve read some of the stuff on Twitter and Facebook under Widnes’s posts and dear me, it’s some of the most uneducated bile ever written.
I just don’t get why the club can’t put shares up for sale? Get the fans involved I don’t have a lot of money but I’d put my hand in my pocket to help wherever I could the same as what Salford have done? No money yet challenging at the top of super league. I know it is not ideal but will give the club an extra boost of income and the fans a good understanding of what’s going on. We all love this club and obviously it won’t withstand relegation or liquidation again…

That would be a tough sell to be honest. Buying shares would be nothing other than a goodwill gesture akin to VIQI.
There’s absolutely no chance of a return on the shares and just means the fans are propping up their hobby. The club is worthless really; other than a brand image, website, playing kit and player contracts that are written in pencil, there are no assets.
Might as well put the season tickets up to £1,000 per head.

The financial thing doesn't wash with me as an excuse, someone tell me how Batley have got to a Championship final last year and are currently joint second in the league - or why Sheffield have been up there all season. We have the tools to be competitive, we have the bigger gates in the league, probably the most season ticket holders (either us or Bradford) in the league. The recruitment hasn't been good enough and it seems our ambition isn't high enough. We're making do at the minute and it is absolutely not good enough.
This once great club is truly on its knees, if they are upsetting season ticket holders who are the lifeblood of the club, then we really are in big trouble. The board need to be honest about our current situation not keep their heads in the sand.
