@pauliewalnuts the two positive characters have left makes me worry that the it's back to ultra cautious coz once London have gone surely we should be looking at winning this division there must be only ourselves and barrow and Oldham able to spend full 500,000

@vikingfox71

where is it stated that a team from championship will go up - perhaps I have missed it but I cannot recall a statement saying there was promotion and relegation from SL ?
it’s obvious London have set their stall out to win the championship, 1895 cup and playoffs

they won’t last long, same as York and probably toulouse

give it 2 years and SL will be inviting teams in

just my thoughts paulie

I recall that the RFL announced that the 14 teams in SL for 2027 will be selected based on IMG gradings, but not sure that has been confirmed. It seems likely that London will go up at the expense of Huddersfield.

The RFL will make their minds up about a week before the 2027 season starts!!!!

My guess is that after 2027, there will be no promotion/relegation in SL. Our only hope is that the RFL may decide to increase the number of teams in SL, or a few go bust. We may then get in. Otherwise, we can look forward to being a feeder team for Warrington.

I suppose a lot will depend on the situation with the Sky/NRL deals.

Also, isn't the proposed Championship cap to be £200.000/£300,000?

@frankg no barrow have announced it's on turnover and they are allowed 500,000 it drops to 250 for the smaller clubs who then have to have guarantors for anything they spend above that !
well that's this weeks reading of it according to barrow

@7-vikingnomad London will definitely be going up and if to replace Huddersfield who only got 3800 att at home to saints well despite the money man they won't survive in championship they would basically have to restart so that should put us in a place to push to win it next season if the ambition is there to do that

Leigh will last as long as Beaumont hangs around, He has walked away before when things didn't go his way with RFL. Leigh will be a good feeder team for Wigan!!!

When the NRL investment gets the green light, they'll insist on London being in SL, and they'll insist on moving away from P&R.

Am I the only person that thinks the people that run RL in this country have absolutely NO idea what is going on?

Does nobody realise, that the more overseas players and coaches that come over here, and the more the sport allows non sensical games such as the Las Vegas project to go ahead, the more it damages the sport of rugby league over here.

And if you don't believe me, then explain exactly what benefits have been achieved from the 'USA Experiment'?  Answer: None!!!

Do you think that supporters (if there are any left) from Dewsbury, Keighley or wherever, are now all feeling warm inside after been ignored for a generation?!!!

You can dress it up as much as you like, but even after just two years, this 'vanity project' is now being ignored by the 'top' teams cos they realise it is a waste of time, money and effort.

Rugby League is a pale imitation of what it once was, and no amount of jiggery pokery or 'Emperors New Clothes' will convince me otherwise.

Go on. Tell me I'm wrong!!

Why doesn’t anyone from the RL get interviewed by a professional journalist, who will ask them uncomfortable questions about the state of Rugby league.
is it not allowed?

@darth-vadar

Well for my tuppence worth...

Vegas may be deemed a vanity project, didn't they say the same about Magic Weekend? IIRC LV is a 5 year project, we've got 2 years remaining, but I think it will continue for another 5 years at least. That would mean all SL teams will have a chance to play there, and then maybe it could become a 'Charity Shield' type fixture for the last 2 years, or even the WCC.

Reading in RLE this week, London have another investor from Queensland coming in. They are definitely a shoo- for SL next year. I'd be very surprised if either Cas or Huddersfield are not relegated on IMG criteria. My sources in West Yorkshire tell me it's costing Ken Day £100k a month to bankroll the Giants. I think his patience is wearing thin.

Paulie xx

I've always thought that RL has the opportunity to cement a place as the 2nd biggest sport in the North of England. If it focuses on what it's good at, if it focuses on grass roots, if it focuses on the key geographical areas, it could do it.

But the people who run the game pass up the chance to do it. Time and again, chasing impossible dreams, trying to turn the game into something it's not, trying to appeal to people who will never be interested. They've wasted the chance. And they've done it for so long now, I think the chance is gone. Would-be players, would-be fans, current fans, have been lost, probably never to return.

RL simply isn't as good as it used to be. And that's because of years of mis-management.
