Was SF telling lies about our injuries or is he incompetent, either way its the final nail in his coffin.
I wouldn't count on that, you know how mediocrity is rewarded here. It's the Widnes way.We will go into next season with the same coach and another under strength and weak squad.
Too much arm-grabbing and no impact in our defence.
So many tries scored by players who were 'tackled' and struggled free - embarrassing.
I can feel another ‘death of the club’ moment brewing.
Big call to say the worst performance in 70 years. I’d say you must have missed a couple of games in the late 60’s, early 70’s. The Floodlit Cup Final just before Christmas in 72 or 73 when Bramley beat us was an absolute shocker as was the 3 - 2 loss to Bradford in the John Player Final - if that game was still going on now we probably wouldn’t have scored a try.
One of the worst performances I have seen after almost 70 years as a fan. Half the team didn’t seem interested.
I actually think we've seen worse this season - but it was a throwback to those first few weeks when we were shockingly bad and looked like relegation candidates. As pointed out, some of the "defending" for tries would have embarrassed school kids. It was a shame, because we have seen promising improvements in some games recently, but this was garbage. However, I don't think it's all doom and gloom - We are two decent, fit props and a fit hooker away from having a side which can compete in this league - makeshift props and the knock on effect of that is killing us. I think the coach needs the benefit of the doubt - give him an off-season to recruit, fill those gaps and judge him on next year.
Also agree we need to look at the post covid match day experience - no point in grumbling about it this year as there is bugger all the club can do with still having restrictions imposed (ie, Batley not allowed in normal changing rooms yesterday - no way are we going to get cheerleaders and pre match entertainment or kids games under these circumstances). Next few months should be all about getting set up for next year and getting that message out to the fans of what we can expect next year - a 'statement' signing would help that at least and some ideas for the whole match day experience fans can expect next year.
It wasn’t even the worst performance of the season though it probably makes the worst four or five. That said if you took the last 25 minutes on Sunday in isolation it was horrendous. It’s hard to win games when your goal line defence is as bad as that.

So what's the aggregate conceded against the mighty Batley this year, 80 odd ?

It looked like the players where self isolating on the pitch.

82-32 in their favour.
Absolutely dreadful.

If you think that was the worst performance in 70 years as a fan you must have been missing a lot of seasons....
I think part of the disappointment is that we actually got better for a bit between the Toulouse hiding and the Featherstone game, but this was back to the first 6 weeks of the league season; with arguably the best bench we have been able to field for weeks too.
As for the matchday experience, it hasn't ever been that much of an 'experience' IMO, if we are playing well and winning more than we are losing then it doesn't really come into it I don't think.
Let's face it, since 2016 it has all been downhill really, with occasional good days.
Everything now needs to be geared towards a solid end of the season in preparation for next year: one way or another we need to be in the Top 6, whether that is to stay in the 2nd tier or to be in the Play-Offs.
It’s hard to see really how it gets better other than strong recruitment for next season, think there are a few players who we have who have got deals in recent years who haven’t exactly earned them, think it’s now time to make some decisions on some of these move them on and bring a decent amount of fresh players in, that’s an advantage most of our players on one year deals we can easily move some on.
If you look at our bench we had three forwards and a hooker.
That tells you that the Coach realised where we were weakest, and he was right.
Makes me wonder if we are fishing in the right pond. We look for aged and accident victim SL players where there are probably tougher Championship players around who could do a better job for us. The Batley stand off looked harder to stop than our pack, sad to say! Out of Sheens collection we have three invisible forwards. Logan Tomkins may well be a relatively fresh injury but Cook and Hewitt? Makes you wonder if someone like Amor would cut it against a Bramley pack!
As the league shake up starts to take shape it will be a matter of deciding just how much like SL the SL 2 group will be. Or will it be the Championship by another name.
We have backs atm who are hitting the ball up as strongly as our forwards and with enough pace to trouble most defences but the halves need some hard running forwards to do the business up the middle.
The noises from the established SL clubs aren't looking too favourable so they will want the lions share of any funding.

He was far from right in fact he was clueless, why have three props on the bench and play only 2 he needs to go now enough is enough, he cannot even deceive the fans. Franny had more of a clue.
