We managed to find a way to sneak the 2 points. They fielded a very experienced strong side & will be at least mid table this season unless they are unlucky with injuries. I thought Murray first half, Wilde, Gilly & Fozzard were very good. The MOM for me was Lloyd he was immense in  making yards & defence. We gave away too many penalties & need to clean it up.

We still lack a penetrative half back & /or centre. I am concerned we only had 3 props named today ( I do not consider Field to be a prop) & the bench was weak. I do not understand why we have loaned a centre when we had 4 forwards missing  today. Again why was Walker 18th man? We play better when he plays. He drives in hard makes good yards & takes some of the load off the other forwards. We sorely missed Langtree & if he is going to be out for a long time he needs replacing with a similar standard player.

However a win is a win & again we came from behind & showed resilience once more. Well done Widnes!

Heard from a few people saying need a strike centre and a halfback. If Gilmore gets injured we are knackered. Plus our centres are okay but not strike centres. 👌👍 Can't complain with 2 points.

Let’s look at where we are , we are paper thin in terms of numbers

reilly, langtree,Fleming, gregson, out injured, tilleke retired, Roby person non grata

so our squad is virtually down to 19

we need more bodies soon

we  beat Donny earlier quite easily before our squad got to grips why so close today ?

This squad is definitely good enough however we do need to add to it, another playmaker and centre would be perfect and think that would really give us the edge. I doubt we will buy anyone and think it will be loans/dual reg that we use for reinforcements. Hopefully we’re scanning the Aussie lower league for a classy half 👀😂😂

Very true Langtree a big miss and Reilly supposed to be a beast of a prop too. I dont understand why Roby isn't picked and still have Dixon available. A strike centre and another halfback required. Depending on Langtree I look at another back rower of similar quality.

Just got back, it was a really good game to watch and defensively I thought we were really good, especially after Jack's drop in the first half.

Lloyd was great going forward, and Butt really put in a shift. Our decision making with ball in hand, especially on last tackle wasn't great today. Doncaster's wasn't either, mind. We can't be so generous when we face Sheffield or Wakefield.

Looks like Ince will be out for a while.

Listening on the radio it sounded like we made hard work of it but reading some of the comments Donny might have assembled a decent squad. Agree with our injuries but where do we find the replacements? Wire DR seems to have gone quiet and it’s not like we have big money for signings. The real test for us this season will be riding the injuries as we seem to have now got a belief in working for each other

A shame about Ince injured, but luckily have Dixon waiting to get an opportunity.

Hopefully Ince won't be out too long, but it would be good to have Dixon back on the field.

It’s a positive that we have Dixon to replace ince. I don’t know any other position we can cover as well

Many clubs are in the same position regarding injuries, only the wealthy clubs have big enough squads to get away with it.

Listening to AC's after game comments the lads and him know what is to be done so let them get on with it. Not all injuries are long term so there is still hope!

A great listen on AC and a very honest one too. Reilly not far off playing and will be a big boost. Dixon, Brooks and Roby still available in the backs. Brooks looks a big lad and could play in the forwards. 🥖🥖🇫🇷 It looks like Fleming is back playing in 2 weeks time.

Donny played well, completing sets. Pauli Pauli was doing some damage but then went off with a head knock in the first half, don't remember seeing him come back on. There was also a fair few questionable decisions that went their way, and they slowed the play down as often as possible to give their aging players a breather.

They're a big experienced side who will comfortably make the playoffs. They currently have lost 4 games out of 7 but they were against us, Wakey, Fev and Sheffield, so are in a false position at the minute.

Thanks Ethel, good points made there - we would have missed langtree who I thought was one of the best players in the last few games, walker still not fully fit - that’s 2 big units to hold off the huge Donny pack

donny away will be difficult unless we get bodies back or new influx, suspect wills salary will hardly make a difference

whitehaven home next, not a walk in the park that one, then off to Toulouse where I think and hope we can bring home the sausage !
