Swinton have named a fairly decent squad, got a few loan and dual reg players like they normally do, will be another test for us and hopefully we batter them. We certainly owe them one or two.
Uncomfortably confident today. Hoping for a good result, performance and crowd.
I can’t find it on the radio
We are winning 10-6 at half time in an evenly matched game. Swinton are quicker, and better at passing the ball but our defence is good (again). We could have had a another try from an interception in our half, but Jack isn't as fast as he used to be, and was caught just 2/3 metres from their line.
Poor attendance on a bank holiday and good weather.
Played 2 won 2 still top of the league. Good stuff lads
@pensioner 2,700 plus up 900 on last game & with Saints at home to Wigan & an early kick off. I think it is encouraging.
A good game & we were very professional. Our defence was good again. I would luke a moree expansive game but for that you also. need players to make the breaks at centre or up the middle & a penetrative centre & more attacking half back would help that. However played 2 won 2 with a healthy points difference is not to be sniffed at. Well done lads!
Just back from your gaff, and you were the better side no doubt about that, but............
Did the try on the hooter give the score-line an unfair look?
Our discipline was again poor, but how many times have I said that?
You're on P2, W2, and we're P2, L2. Wanna swap? 😀
Next up is Toulouse away, and I'm flying out of Birmingham 8.30 on Friday morning.
Spelly.
2700 was more than I expected so that is a bonus, considering taking out the Swinton contingent there is about 700-800 more Widnes fans there than last game.
Bit of a slog at times but a convincing margin of victory. We aren't silky smooth at times but in my (forcibly) new seat closer to the pitch thought that we tackled well and we looked well organised. All in all a decent effort and I think a more than acceptable start for the new coach.
Thought they ground out a win, some good defence and some good individual performances.
Thought the only down side today was Fleming who looks poor in both attack and defence and Gregson, he must have took about 30 hit ups in and only made 10m combined, I have seen more penetration in a Carry on film.
@thegrimareaper I totally agree about Gregson. He has offered absolutely nothing so far. Also I cannot understand how Butt won man of the match. He was ok but Ince was the pick of the wingers by a mile & Fozard was the best player on the field.
I thought ince was outstanding and deserved mom
@spelly I am not sure the last try put an unfair reflection on the game at all. If a side can score with only12 men on the pitch I do not see how that can be questioned. Jack would also have scored his try chance a few years ago whereas today he was caught 4 yards short due to his loss of speed over the years. I thought Swinton tired in the later stages.
Let us be honest we would be expected to win against Barrow & Swinton at home & unless we get a penetrative centre & improve our halfback cover /play I cannot see us getting higher than 7th or 8th at the season end. Lloyd did well at centre last time out & I was surprised to see him back in the pack. He is IMO the only one we have got from Swinton who is worth a first 17 place. Butt is ok for now as Dixon is hurt but when fit I would expect him to return.
You can only beat what is put infront of you so well done Widnes & a better points difference than I expected. Nice to see some fans returning too.

* When it was announced, my mate asked "Was that just to wind us up?"

Anyone hear the crowd figure exactly? I didn’t hear it at all. TIA
