We haven't applied - so it isn't even a debate about us.
The press today saying Bradford are going to use a return to Odsal to boost their SL bid?! This will of course appease the RFL who own the place but it's not exactly top stadia.
A Bradford inclusion would cause uproar in the Championship and many parts of SL, Toulouse, Leigh and in particular Featherstone will be fuming with the decision.
The applications have to be in by end of November with a decision made on 16 Dec, allowing a whole eight weeks of prep.Makes little difference which club is chosen, they are just on a hiding to nothing. So pleased it won't be us.

True there will be plenty of hot air but no action. SL is the only game that counts in the eyes of the SL clubs. It is fast becoming a different game altogether and I bet that P/ R is on its way out. When that happens the rest of the game will have to break away and look after itself.
Sky are on the lookout for another sport imo, dropping the RL contract sum is just the start. Too small a league to give sufficient variety to keep viewers interested.
Womens soccer is my guess as a takeover.

Kabaddi?
That would pretty much be all about Bradford, too
If I were calling the shots, it would be a straight 'Dog Fight' between TOiiix & London. P&R to follow, but only clubs who don't meet the criteria to go down, until we reach a level playing field (standard of facilities). It's time for Wakey & Cas to step up to the plate. Last time we were at Odslum, the terracing was taped off, because it was unsafe. It's been left in dis-repair for 2 years, hence their move to Dewsbury. If they get the nod, then it's pure corruption, as the RFL hold the lease and Big Fat Nige is part of the Bulls management

The article by Matthew Shaw says it all And backs up the Wells nod and wink on last weekend's tv game. The game and its fans are being treated like muppets if this goes through.
Even if Bradford don't qualify the manipulation of the criteria is so devious that it smacks of a fit up.
Depressing that the game should be exhibited like this.

Which begs the question, why are Bradford Bulls involved? Odsal is owned by the RFL. Are Bradford and Blue Sky Cinema renting Odsal from the RFL to host these cinema nights?
I guess its one way of generating money.
Is Jurassic Park in reality a documentary about Odsal, rather than the 1993 film?
I mean in one sense we shouldn't be too surprised and also at the end of the day we finished 4th and 5th preceding our promotion on licensing.
But Toulouse have a better package. Or does it come down to boosted away fans: when we have been told that away fans don't matter in the past??
The Bradford away crowd is a myth anyway, it's not the year 1998 anymore and 'Bullmania'.Once the first few hammerings are done Bradford will have as many fans at away games as Toulouse would.
Good luck to whoever gets the nod from SL - they are certainly going to need it. To be honest, I’m really pleased that it won’t be us.
Weren't Bradford in special measures in 2019 with a debt of £750,000 and unable to afford the rent of Odsal from RFL. The RFL said at the time that the plans to return to Odsal "lacked credibility". What's changed?
I believe that if Bradford are selected, many fans will turn their backs on SL and maybe RL in general in protest. Perhaps it would be better for the game and Bradford, if they managed to return to SL by building a decent team and sorting out their finances; and then gaining promotion from the Championship on merit by finishing in the top 5 and winning the play-off in 2020 or later.
It should be London or Toulouse if the game is looking to expand, but not sure just how long the game can allow the London experiment to continue unless there are clear plans in place to develop and grow the local support for the game.
I wonder why Widnes have not commented on the application? If a decision has been made not to apply, then why not tell fans. If comments on here are typical, then most fans would seem to agree that the transition from part-time to full-time at this time would be too difficult to develop a team capable of competing in SL in 2021.
We may be preparing a bid, but it's unlikely. It would be pretty traumatic just at the moment anyway and the cards are pretty well stacked for full time teams.
A great deal of smoke and mirrors of course with SL/RFL as ever, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 'relegation' issue is revisited next year if the offer goes to a club with influential friends!
Hope that doesn't sound too cynical!

I was wondering that myself, it would be nice to hear it confirmed one way or the other. Then again, apart from Featherstone, I have'nt noticed the others anouncing their intentions either.

Cynical yes - but probably true!
Just a thought, but if the transition from part-time in the Championship to full-time in the SL is difficult now, won't it be equally difficult next season and the the season after? In that case, are Widnes planning to build up finances, so that the transition to full-time is achievable either on promotion or to build a strong full-time squad in the Championship.
I actually believe that it won't be too long before SL goes back to a licensing system with no promotion or relegation. I also believe that a strong and competitive Championship would be good for RL with teams like Widnes, Leigh, York, London/Toulouse/Bradford, Featherstone. Halifax, Newcastle and maybe even Salford, HKR, Huddersfield, Wakefield when they are dropped from the expansionist plans, as well as possibly resurgent Oldham, Sheffield, Whitehaven, Dewsbury, Batley, Swinton and Rochdale. You can but hope!
Phil Finney will be on radio Merseyside tonight at 6pm to discuss the club's position about SL application.
We are not applying, its too soon for us but we do aspire to get there one day👍👍
