It's just all very depressing really.

We have been in this situation may times before.

Either the fans are expecting too much from the club or the club is badly managed. The truth is somewhere in between.

The last time I truly had hope was when Neil Kelly came over from Dewsbury - yes - that long ago.

When we were in SL I always felt it was a matter of time before we went down - we just don't seem to be big enough, in the long run, to be anything other than a mediocre mid table Championship team.

I think we've found our level.

@stu82

But we aren't in a position to make that call without we know the size of the club's budget and what authority was given etc. If the club budget is insufficient getting better players is an impossibility for instance.

The staff budget is already well below what it used to be, Rolt hasn't been replaced (to my knowledge) and must leave a hole in our marketing activity.

I'm not saying that things haven't got to improve but without knowing the detail citing individuals is not fair. The Board has members with their own trading/marketing expertise and I would think that they are keeping a tight hold of the cash available.

Our league position and recent history are hardly attractive to potential signings (including coaches) and being on the western rim of the league is, again, hardly attractive. This probably means that our contract offers need to be on the high side of average.

Any money making/sponsorship ideas need to be explored, but with the cost of living nationally climbing vertically it won't be easy!!!!

I think we have found our level but you would've hoped it would be at the top end of this division rather than the middle. In Super League I always felt the season was too long for us, we just didn't have the stamina to go the distance. There were some great wins both home and away but we just couldn't sustain it for the whole seven months.Things were going well at the beginning of 2016 with six wins from seven and if we hadn't been squandering huge amounts of our income on  the salaries of hangers on and those in non existent job roles, then things might have been different for a few years but I guess we would still have found our level eventually.

Or possibly without the drain on resources caused by the hefty salaries paid to Rule, Brian O Connor et al we would have been able to continue to scrap along with the likes of Salford and Wakefield towards the bottom end of SL instead of being relegated and going into administration.

I still can't get over it MT. A small town rugby club with 4500 fans being run like Manchester Utd.It beggars belief.

Indeed.

The only difference between us and Salford/Wakefield etc is that they are at the top table and we aren't. We'll need some minor miracle to get back there. If Toulouse somehow stay up, Salford/Wakefield will probably end up in a similar state to us next season.

Maybe the Championship is our level, who knows. But at the moment, we were more competitive in Super League (2013-2016 at least) than we are now in the Championship!

Super league has to be the aim rather than this defeatist outlook that we have found our level. The club is as big as it aspires to be. Granted under current ownership and leadership it’s at its level but with new investment/ownership we could kick on and have a seat at the top table

But the hope for instant success is pie in the sky. Any business that has faced administration takes time to recover.

Salford have been through the mill and are managing to hold on atm, but it all comes down to the moneyed man on the white charger who is only interested in his own image as a club owner. It is  a house built on very dodgy foundations.

We, atm, are stabilised and are still here, by our own efforts. There have been ups and downs, that happens in life, in business or in rugby league.

The mag with the Ollie Davies item in it spoke volumes and was very frank and about right for him as a player and us as a club. No big ideas of our own importance but a resolute determination to do and be the best that we can.

The only way that we can start to move upwards is to rely on our own efforts. If any of us, Board, club players or supporters can't sustain the effort then we fail or don't achieve the level that we aim for.

If the Big Man arrives with his money great, if not we carry on. Bear on mind that Khoukash got fed up when Salford didn't get to the top quickly enough!

BTW interesting that Bradford have announced their new CEO who was, wait for it! their academy organiser !!!!!

The new Bradford CEO is full-time on a volunteer basis as well. Not sure that's the best way to run a club, but then they already have Nigel Wood, so on a hiding to nothing already.
