Squad Numbers

Levy I would suggest he’s asked for that number as with our prop shortage and lack of impact off the bench no way is he that far down the pecking order

as for Holroyd he does have impressive highlights however last season was his first full season as a pro before that he had only made a few appearances at first team level , the championship is a big jump up from league one where half the sides are not competitive so maybe he will be one who grows into the season also I feel brookes did more than enough to earn a starting number at the end of last season

Batley and Whitehaven had good seasons last year, don't see why we can't emulate them in principle.

Whitehaven got some Antipodean players over, begs the question why can't we?

Squad numbers: do they really make a big difference? I liked it when we had 1-17 shirts to be honest.

I am reasonably happy with 14 Lyons 15 Brown 16 Dupree 17 Bent. Unlike last year we should be able to name 3 bench forwards more often. Surprised at Fleming, Holdroyd & especially Nzoungou being so far down the order. Has Nzoungou not trained yet as I know was injured last May? Anyone know? As others have said squad is better balanced & deeper than last year but at least one  bustling prop could mean the difference of hoping to finish 6th & knowing we probably would finish 4 th to 6th.

There again do squad numbers mean that much as Heremia wore the 31 jersey when here.

Nzoungou is training, has been through pre season and is looking good I believe.

Batley looked good against Bradford so will be a good test for a first run out.

We have a pretty good spine with plenty of experience and a big, mobile loose forward with plenty of energy. Just how the creative players use the rest might give us a clue as to what our tactics might be.

Nzoungou's had 12 clubs and he's 23 - not sure why people are surprised he's number 26, he was never going to get a starting number.

Hopefully he hits the ground running with a point to prove.

From what I can see, Levy has only played 16 games since 2018. On paper, he has all the credentials and has been associated with some very good clubs, but he must be a big risk.

I still feel we are short in the middle of the park. Dupree could be an inspired signing as he scored plenty of tries in a poor Oldham team. On the whole though, I think our props are reasonable defenders and hopefully will stop our normal habit of letting the opposition forwards to rampage through the middle of the park.
