Att 2203, now that is disappointing really really disappointing .
@martin I don't think on the pitch we can do anything more. Allan Coleman is great with the fans. We made the playoffs last year as a platform to build on. Signed some solid players in Patton, Hall, Williams and Bennion. Undefeated in preseason/ the cup and had an absolutely fantastic win over in Toulouse that was streamed live on YouTube.
What more can we do? The overall build up and promotion to the game was very quiet. But other than social media we don't really have a budget for it. Also £24 and £12 for kids with the cost of living as it is, is a lot of money. Leigh have transformed the club, we used to get loads more fans than them, same could be said of Warrington when at Wilderspool. Difference I guess is they are in SL and by RL standards have money to burn 🙁
Well last year's actual average was 1800 so the crowd figure wasn't surprising. And the lousy weather would've kept a few away.Leigh got 8400 live on TV with little following and the same weather
Think it might be symptomatic of the Championship atm- there was a shade under 2700 at Bradford last week and yesterday's crowd here was better than Toulouse v us last week.
I'd wager there won't be too much bigger than 2203 in the next few weeks in the Championship sadly.
Yes really poor crowd - we need and deserve better than that - the dire attendance will be interesting - doubt we get above 6K but hope I am wrong
tickets paid for and hotel booked so I will be there

Agree mate very disappointed with the public of Halton not just Widnes. There is several from out of Town that go the games like myself and it makes me think are the club really going into the schools to entice people. Questionaires in schools and when i saw 8400 at Leigh and was televised it shows there public are buying into the club. Obviously Super League helps and a decent team.
Maybe if they went and signed a good player on full time who was to go around the schools daily spreading the word and as our only full time player he would earn his money not only on the field but daily as well or take on a apprentice to work in office a few days and go out as kemik a few days if we do nothing we die a slow death
money not every thing as Oldham have spent a fortune then battered york and only got 1300 fans so you need to get youngsters in and parents to bring them !! Maybe a kemik section in stand family area
plenty to try but we seem very quite and almost stuck atm
Well looking at Oldham attendance ours virtually 1k more and terrible weather and the football was on TV. So hopefully our attendances will improve further during the season and Sheffield do not bring many fans.Maybe if they went and signed a good player on full time who was to go around the schools daily spreading the word and as our only full time player he would earn his money not only on the field but daily as well or take on a apprentice to work in office a few days and go out as kemik a few days if we do nothing we die a slow death

To be honest only Bradford bring more than 100 fans & that varies a lot.Well looking at Oldham attendance ours virtually 1k more and terrible weather and the football was on TV. Fev and fax bring a good crowd, followed by York - sheff a mini bus, London a bigger mini bus, Donny, toulouse same size mini bus, barrow nearly a coach, hunslet who knows
oldham on Good Friday May yet be good - depends on how they get on in the meantime
A good win against arguably one of the better teams in the league.
As mentioned, Widnes is one of the better supported teams in the Championship. The attendance of 2,300 was not much less than at last year's fixture (2,486), which was played in August.
As discussed on here, there are many reasons for low attendances - bad weather, alternative events, aging fan base or quite simply, lack of interest locally. Success on the pitch will have some impact, but the poor attendance at Oldham's game over the weekend shows that cannot be taken for granted.
The Club is presumably promoting the game locally through schools and local amateur clubs, but perhaps could do more to promote home fixtures.
In my opinion, one of the problems with the game is the lack of interest from RFL in promoting the game outside SL. If you watched Sky, you would think that RL consists only of SL. Few, if any, comments and no results at all from the Championship or League 1. The same applies to BBC.
If the RFL started promoting the whole of RL and not just SL, this may generate further interest in the game generally. The Championship this year is very competitive and there should be some close games. Maybe, if RFL offered BBC a deal to televise some games, this may promote the game.

Agreed, Frank.
The game has an 'Identity Crisis'
To the outsider, SL is easily mistaken for the WSL football. I think a gentle tweak of the Championship to Rugby League Championship may or may not make a difference. If I'm not mistaken, we are the only sport that has a team of 13, we don't make use of this. 'Rugby 13' is one idea.
Now let's not get started on the RFL allowing 2 'Vikings' in the league. Ridiculous!

Agree with what you say mate and I will keep going because I love my team what ever the problems. Hopefully once May ends we can up some of the attendances with no football.
