Fookin’ scandalous if we’ve just let home go (like the players last season) as we havent the squad depth to just let a first choice forward waltz out the door.

And all these excuses of being ill or his child is sick makes me lose all respect for Lannon if he’s been downing tools to get out the club.

We can't complain too much really or be that surprised. We signed the player ourselves under similar circumstances when he threw in the towel at Halifax.

I don't get this let him leave if he has signed eleswhere next season mentality. Most players are only on 1 or 2 year deals anyway. Last season with Walker and Dixon it was later in to the season and both not regular starters.

Lannon is a first choice back row, the season has not long started. Most importantly we are way way short on numbers. We only named 19 players this week, let 4 young 'project' signings go and the relationship with Warrington doesn't seem to be the best and they can't be relied upon.

Firstly is this true, if it is why on earth are we letting him go while still under contract. Why can't he go to Oldham in 5/6 months time when his contract with Widnes expires?

Time for a fans forum to explain what's going on??

Probably we can't afford him, or Oldham have offered him a 2 year deal on the understanding he leaves now (as Swinton did with Ant Walker, last year)

The silence from the Board is deafening.... then again, it could be just a rumour?

If it does come to pass, this week, then the Board (Custodians as they like to tell us) are taking its Members for a gang of mugs.

Paulie xx

22k passed over from WVIPS for recruitment and retention of key players.

if Lannon isn’t classed as one of them then we are up crunchie creek without a paddle

We are drawing conclusions based on rumour.

The real problem is the system that allows clubs and/or agents to approach players before the season is virtually started.

I can understand a coach wanting rid of a player who has decided that he wants to move on already. He has plainly lost interest in Widnes, if that is the case. There may well be other factors behind the scenes of course.

The transfer/contract system is about money, and only money. Club loyalty is a thing of the past I'm afraid with players acting individually as self employed hired hands.

Regarding putting money into the club, or any club, most of us subscribe to 'our' club more than we probably should but the idea that we can pressure someone with more that us to invest heavily, just because its Widnes, is for the birds.

Even the big money available to Leeds, Wigan etc is only notable locally and is small change compared to soccer and RU. Our game overall is shrinking and as SL closes its doors to P/R the non SL investors will shrink.
