Most walkouts are the result of frustration and personal disagreement. Much of that comes down to Coaches and how they deal with players or, in simple terms 'man management'. Actions taken in haste and temper can just get out of hand.
I would trust to Tim Sheen's judgement and skill at talking to players. Clough's comments are worth a read on that point.
Dougie used to refer to the alternatives of 'hand round the shoulder' or 'kick up the other end'.
I can't see that we are too badly off for wingers or backs generally atm and we will have to reserve our funds for other potential signings yet. Of course things can change!
