Rumoured to be on the cards for a return to Widnes. Definitely would have him back now Johnson has gone, top try scorer in 2019 as well but would he be as good without Gelling on the inside, although Gelling was pretty woeful for the second part of the season.

Who knows? A better coach might get into his head a bit. He had all the physical attributes to be a good winger. His tendency to always look for the intercept was a bit of a concern iirc.

I also would take him back now Johnson has left if he really wants to return. He could not get into Leigh's side so far so he must want first team rugby. He may well prefer to go elsewhere though if the offers come in.  Everyone deserves a second chance so I would not hold the way he left against him.

Is he FT or PT at Leigh? Regarding the way he left a chat with TS might be what he needs to set him straight. We can all blow up on occasion!!!

Do you think so ? I thought he lacked a bit in power and strength.

Heard mixed opinions about this for me personally there is no doubt he’s a natural try scorer and would come back and score a hat full, got bags of speed and pretty strong returning the ball I just always thought he was a raw talent who had a bad error in him at any given time, I could see him massively improving his game under sheens and I don’t think it would be the worst move in the world

His try scoring record overall is good 31 in 46 games, but I would be concerned about why he couldn't get into the Leigh team (was he not  loaned out to Oldham?).

The Wembley thing doesn't personally bother me too much, but then again Lyons was left out and he didn't walk out. Another coaching masterclass on that occasion.

Suppose it comes down to whether you think he is better than Buckley, Edge and Hatton: I would prefer to give one of them a run to be honest. Also Roby could play wing with Tyrer and Spedding at centre.

Given how many three quarters we have and how many forwards short of being where we need to be I would be bit surprised if we brought Ince back in.
He is a decent finisher and genuinely quick so I can see the case but as has been suggested we have plenty of candidates for the wing spots already.

Could well come down to how many more backs we can afford.

Not seen a enough of Buckley to judge his pace but he can certainly catch a high ball. I thought that he looked a bit fragile tbh but the game against Wire sorted that out!

Bryson Godwin and Mitch Clarke both hit him in rapid succession Godwin bounced off, Clarke landed a good hit then weaved away with the wobbly boots on! Buckley just carried on regardless. His Wikipedia site quotes his weight as 14 stone plus, so he's just spread out a bit.

Agree with you, we should give Hatton, Buckley, Edge or Roby a chance.

Tyrer and Spedding seem to be the natural choice as centres at present.

Ince is a decent winger at this level, normally I would like to see him back with us but we do have several alternatives and could use his wages to further improve the pack.

He really was badly advised when he left for Leigh.

TS is the one to make these decisions though,

Not for me, you have to evaluate what he's done since he left the club, albeit only 12 months ago he's achieved very little.  If he was as good as he thinks he is he would have taken the opportunity elsewhere to prove Widnes wrong- he hasn't.

If he comes back, he's a lucky boy to get another chance.

I mean we say he hasn't done well since he left but he's strictly speaking only been away for a handful of competitive fixtures because the season was curtailed.

I liked him, I thought he was a good winger at this level. I don't hold it against him too much what happened with Wembley it was a stupid decision to drop him and he reacted poorly, but I don't think it's anything an apology can't solve and we could move forward.

Ince was a decent winger at Championship level, but  I would stick with the backs we have signed/retained. Any further signings should be to strengthen the pack.

I agree, he’s achieved nothing and for me he showed his true colours and not the best attitude when he left. If we were to get into promotion position and brought players in to strengthen the squad then we can’t have players like him going off in a strop!
