As an extra income, I think the club could make some money if each season they had a retro kit from say 50’s/60’s/70’s as the magic weekend kit which I think would make a decent amount of money for the club. Maybe the championship could do a retro round where all the clubs were a retro kit from a given year, so 2023 could be 1973 style kits etc…
obviously some clubs don’t have that heritage but could do an oldschool local club version for Newcastle etc..

Widnes' kit in 1973 was a plain white rugby shirt,it didn't even have the town crest on it..
@richard-richard 🤣🤣🤣, we’ll maybe not 73 then. But you get the gist of it
I think plenty would buy a retro shirt particularly from a year where success was achieved but sponsorship might be an issue. Not having sponsors on the shirt would cost the club an opportunity to make profit but having them would detract from the authenticity of the shirt. Unless we could get the sponsors of days gone by onboard!
Alas, ICI folded 15 years ago.
I think a retro round would look great on tv m, I understand the situation with sponsorship but maybe we could wear tshirts with sponsors on for warm up and have flags with sponsors on in teams colors to be given to fans in the crowd? Maybe kits to be raffled after game could bring in the lost revenue
I have a 2003 Finforrest Sponsered Home Jersey in Good Condition with Tomato Sauce Stain down the front from a Meat Pie. 😛
Seriously I think it is a great idea, Would love and ICI sponsored Widnes Jersey.
