With the news of Evans leaving and the long term injuries to Roberts and Gilmore. Who could we actually sign.

Im not sure if a centre on a short term loan or Duel Reg is ideal but maybe needs must.

Signing a half back on loan would be last resort. Owens there and cover at Full back would surely be the better option.

We have got an excellent replacement for Owen if he was moved to the half back position, in Fleming who played there last season when Jack was injured for most of the season.   But then we would need a Centre replacement.

Is now the time to see if Mr Amor has any contacts back at Saints to see if there are any aspiring players to give us some cover. Things may be easier in that direction now our former CEO has departed, there were rumours that he had turned down a number of loan opportunities for Saints players in the past. May be a load of rubbish but it seemed odd that we didn't seem look in that direction!

@wirralviking

if there is an injury crisis, owens at half, flemming at full back and Daniel Hill on loan wouldnt be the worst idea

Big problem with the reserve comp is that there is a game every other week, and some opposition for top Super League clubs isn't great.  Fringe SL players have an issue where they play 2 games (at best) a month and kick their heels the rest of the time.

Do we want to take a young SL centre on loan and help develop them or crack on with what we've got?

I dont remember Brookes, Holroyd or ince ever playing centre but im sure they could fill in for a couple of games. But if we are pushing for top 4/6 we need to be more ambitious i think.

We need a centre before a prop or half back imo. Perhaps we could line up a signing with a SL club in case of a further centre injury rather than sign one immediately. Brookes should be back soon.

I don't understand the persistence on here to make additional signings, I think we have enough strength in depth to see us through.

Our forward pack looks to be the strongest we've had for a good few years, on the back of that Lyons seems to be playing better.

Our wingers are up a level on what we've been used to, both excellent finishers and strong ball returns, Edge is playing well in the centers with Fleming and we have Roberts to come in at some point.

As has been said on others posts, I'd rather go with what we have rather than drafting players in on a month by month or game by game basis which, in my opinion causes more disruption than it does good

surely we are weak in the backs - take out a half back and a centre - who do you put in ?
we need a body or two

Think a centre is an absolute must tbh....deffo think matty costello is a good shout ..not getting a look in atm n showed up very well when went on loan to barrow last season...also a reasonably good chance of a permanent deal..that said I think the board will keep the purse strings tight n not make a move till its beyond desperate

We might have the strength in depth to put 13 players out and see us through but we need to be aiming a bit higher than that.

A centre is a must, I suspect that Flemming is carrying an injury as he never once took the ball up from the play the ball and didn't look that interested against fax.

But that is speculating that we get more injuries in the next few weeks, if we don't then we have our own bodies back, why pay for something we don't need?

It all boils down to budget and reduced funding, especially since previous employees are no longer balancing the books.

Roberts and Gilmore are out for 5 months, if Craven/Lyons or Flemming/Edge get injured we have no one to replace them. Evans and Johnson are off the pay role, so I don't blame the club for wanting to sign a player or 2 it makes sense.

Hopefully come the mid point of the season a player or 2 will become available either on a permanent basis or season long loan, they usually do like Dixon, Field and Johnson last season from Leigh, Featherstone and Salford.
