We are continually being told we have cash available for players yet here we are again losing a player and taking people on loan. We also had a decent prop from Saints who played one game and then went somewhere else.
Suppose non of us know the politics unless at the club. Most players just go where the money is available, and best deal to be honest. Most are not fans and is a short career. Brogan is a season loan and is a quality player.
On the bright side we have at long last got a coach with good connections and a working knowledge of how to work the system.
Can't find any info on Brogan (wt etc) but he sounds a bright prospect.
Hopefully Brand can show us how he has developed!!!
Obviously it would be better if we were on the SL side of the deal but - hey ho!!!!!

** We signed him from Leigh Miners, and he soon showed that he "had summat" so it was no surprise at all when Lam's Lot offered him a full-time contract.
Quality footballer, who should only become better with regular first team football
Spelly.
Really sorry to see Ant go and I wish him all the very best at Swinton. You have to do the right thing for both the player and the club, so it is what it is. That leaves us with five props on the books, two of whom are injured with a sixth on loan. So lets hope Callum Field is back soon, as if we have an injury or suspension, then we will back to playing Roberts at prop again.
Bringing Brand in at centre was smart, with Edge still out and Fleming getting a one match ban for after the Batley game. Having him in for a month and Brogan till the end of the season will help, but we will still need to cover centre, halfback and now prop better for next season. Allan may have another difficult decision to make, this time on wingers as part of that.
It appears Walker, Swinton & Widnes are all happy with what has occurred & that is fine. We get a younger more energetic player for the rest of the season in the same position. I am expecting we are actively seeking adequate props for next year's squad as Brogan is just a loan deal. Personally I wish we could have afforded to retain Ant for the rest of the season & loaned Brogan as well.
I know Walker played limited minutes but he was just the type of player that we have needed for years who had an off load & good hands, that took 3 of the opposition to tackle him sapping their energy. We also won most of the bigger games that he was involved in eg. Halifax & Bradford at home last season. So thank you Ant for your time at the Vikings & good look for the future.
Any news on Reilly coming back soon and Callum Field? I understand if these two are back soon.
field must be nearly ready but Reilly was reported as beginning to change direction with his running at the end of this month, so suspect another month away
good luck to ant walker, glad to see he is not allowed to play against us and hopefully brogan can be a more than adequate replacement

So hopefully end of July for Reilly as I like to have a decent size squad. But suppose it all comes to a cost mate. Ant Walker was offered 2 years further contract and with a short career, I do understand him taking the opportunity. We need more fans at the stadium and also sponsorship to have more spending power. Let's get a win on Siunday, as it is amazing how the league table can change with several losses or wins.
Sorry to see Ant go. He always ran hard when he came on but I guess he wanted game time and if he is going to get that at Swinton then you can understand his choice. It sounds like a farily amicable parting anyway.
Going back to the update in early June
"Cal Field suffered a broken hand in the game with Whitehaven and he remains several weeks from a return.
Finally, long-term injury casualty, Martyn Reilly is continuing with his rehab from an ACL injury. As fans may have seen he is now back running and should be able to start changing direction by the end of the month."
If Reilly is only able to start changing direction by the end of this month, I can't see him playing in July. Cal Field is described as "several" weeks away.
23 players on the books with two on loan, makes 25, with Edge, Field, Gregson and Reilly injured that makes 21. Hopefully Gregson will be back, which will help, as the other three seem less likely to be.

If Field and Reilly are not ready to play until August or September we may as well write them off for the season. If the case we definitely need a prop to replace Ant Walker, which I am sure Brogan is the replacement. Hopefully Edge and Ince are fit soon and I would definitely look at 1 more forward in our squad. Fingers crossed we get some luck with injuries because it seems Sheffield have been lucky.
Yes we are short again, but field must be nearly ready, fitness wise will be fine as running no problem
as stated Reilly august best I reckon, but gregson must be near and langtree is back as we know
hopefully field back this week and with the 2 Leigh boys feeling confident
Just seen that Bent will play for the Crusaders this weekend, so unless someone else is coming the other way, which I doubt, that may mean that Gregson is fit to play, which releases Brogan to play prop. We will find out soon enough.
