Preliminary position

The preliminary position for IMG SL standing has been released with us in 16th position on 10.17 points behind Bradford 14,Featherstone 15 and Toulouse 10. Our financial standard must be good but I would imagine our league positions over the last few years have let us down.

That’s not bad,  being the 4th best club outside SL, if we can improve our playing performance next season, we should get higher.

I agree overall not a bad position. Taking into consideration we have been into administration, do not have an academy, do not own our ground & have a slightly decreasing attendance.

Our main danger is dropping more next season if our attendances slump more. Some stalwart supporters on here have said they will not be purchasing season tickets this time which is concerning.

Are fans meant to be excited about this,a table of gradings ? Don't get your hopes up,16th place might as well be 60th.Widnes can jump through the hoops all they like.

It's all bullshit.

You can't have an IMG B grade and have a mediocre team on the pitch.

All it means is the A grade teams get a bigger slice of the funding.

Not a bad outcome in the end, especially given how rubbish we have been on the pitch at times.

We need to be better next year.

Also tells me nothing new realistically: nothing much between us, Bradford, Featherstone and Salford, Cas etc but SL Funding.

Can't be too unhappy with that. Can only see it getting worse in the current way things are going though, unfortunately.

To be fair James, I thought we'd be lower. We are a Club drifting to oblivion, year in, year out. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. We thought recruitment wasn't too bad last season, but it didn't pan out that way. This season's recruitment looks uninspiring, so I can't see it getting any better. But would that get us higher than 16th? I doubt it. It's all off the pitch stuff that makes the points increase. How many Comedy Nights, Fan Mondays, or bums on seats it will take, only IMG know.

Paulie xx

Cannot see us rising up much. Bradford are a few points ahead & York less than a point behind us. Based on previous 3 years so 1 year will not improve us much anyway.  Let us just concentrate why all back room staff gone since Hamilton came & supporting our team by canvassing for WVIP members.

@farnworth-viking  There is no way we can improve by over 3 points in a year. Infact as York are strengthening their squad  whereas we so far are weaker, they are likely to overtake us.

So why are Newcastle named in the table after throwing in the towel ? If they are granted a place in a merged division after spitting the dummy then I'm done with this sport.Their abscence is the very reason of a proposed merger.Be tantamount to blackmailing their way out of relegation.

@sinbad

apparently they haven’t actually thrown the towel in, according to what I’ve read. Just an intention that it’s going to be hard to run a team!!???

I think these gradings were put in place before they had the plug pulled by the Falcons owner.

That's probably it for me to be honest.

I will probably go and watch Widnes FC once their new little ground is built, and promotion can be earned on the field. It will be much more affordable too.

I probably won't even bother watching most of the RL on the tele, but wish the Grade A clubs all the best, there should be some great encounters in store with them playing each other every month - I'm sure RL will take over the world.
