Do you think that when the pitch needs to be replaced it should go back to a grass playing surface?

As surely the amount of injury’s we pick up at home can’t just be a coincidence, Lewis hall 2 ankle injury’s on a 5g playing surface, Roberts yesterday and then a long line of previous injury’s while playing on that pitch.

@johng ashall-bott absolutely great player, injured constantly on this pitch signs for Toulouse hardly misses a game since. That can’t be all down to the southern France weather and culture!

@prisoner that’s the point I was subtly making in reply to JohnG’s post about the pitch.

We lose players of the quality of O A-B and such a simple part of the reason is the pitch. Obviously there’s more to it with success, money etc but I’m sure we’ve lost players negotiations in the past because of it

@scouseviking55 Hopefully the club have the same idea’s and have discussions with the council because let’s be honest a grass pitch is a million times better. They can host a lot more events with it being grass aswell.

@scouseviking55 Very surprised that Saints loaned us any players as they are not fans of the pitch. They played a season on it and are aware of its problems. Maybe it helped us beat Toulouse as a few more might hate the pitch like Ollie.

I do wonder how much revenue it’s making the council, because in the past they had weekly touch rugby, they still rent it out to 5/7/11 a side bookings on evening and weekends. Cronton college pay to use it for their college football.

If the council feel like they’re earning enough money from it no matter what the club say unfortunately they will stick with it. I’ve never been a fan of it either

The present pitch is at the end of it's lifespan and is due to be replaced this year (hopefully a more modern version than the one at present). I can't see the Council going back to grass, especially as Widnes FC have just folded, and <20 games of Rugby would not make it sustainable.

The stadium haemorrhages money, a lot of money. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a strategy to build houses on it.

@pauliewalnuts If they did install grass again tho they could host cup games and have women’s football play from there so there’s still plenty of ways for the council to make money but agreed they probs wanna knock it down and build on it!

The first pitch was fitted for our return to SL in 2012, whereas Saints played here in 2011 IIRC
