Podcast addressing speculation

Evening all

Myself and Matt Roberts will be recording a podcast next week addressing recent noise and speculations

The reason it was not out this week is simply because it was pre booked and agreed this weeks podcast would be dedicated to the women’s team for their start of the Championship campaign

Please feel free to leave questions and comments as the listen is for you guys to get as much information we can possibly give

Please just remember when putting forward questions he is a board member and not a head coach so he likely won’t be able to answer team selection questions

However he is open to give as honest as possible answers regarding anything supporters would like to know.

I hope this is beneficial for everyone and please leave your questions below!

Why have we not replaced a prop despite loan options (wood & Thomas) available

why let players go before we replace them

1. Why have we just let the player of the month and the best half we have had for years leave the club? And be left with the garbage that is lyons and gilmore…

2. When will coleman be sacked?

What's happened to the  clubs and boards on field ambition.....when maizen left "we were actively searching for replacements " ....jack Bibby left again *we were looking "....Hughes left ...it appears abdull has now left ....deacon Connolly has disappeared....Kieran Taylor clearly not rated ....sergent apparently very impressive and has been nearing selection for weeks now but still no sign ....how can we have money for dufty and paasi but not for players that clearly need replacing...has a decision been made at board level particularly around the resignation of horabin that no funds will be given for squad strengthening and ultimately another season of begging bowl loans is the strategy and cutting the squad costs  ....from attempting to sign dufty to not even trying to replace Bibby ,the drop off in ambition is cataclysmic...how can much smaller clubs in size and stature get it so right on much smaller budgets but we just go back and to year on year making the same mistakes squad wise ...how can anyone involved within the club seriously with a straight face expect any new or old fan to come to a matchday when one of the biggest factors in some walking away is what's being repeated yet again this season......it gets more excruciating every year .....

Good luck Mike trying to whittle that down into a 20 seconds question 😂

I understand the goal posts keep getting moved with the news of a salary cap introduced next season. It’s the same for every team and a more realistic budget for championship clubs IMO.

my question is do we aspire to go back up to super League in the next 2 years and do the board have the strategy in place for us to do that? Also is there a plan in place if the council sell the stadium 🏟️

A good one for a board member rather than playing based. Give us a detailed breakdown of the 5 year plan. Specifically what are the goals and objectives. Give us some numbers. If its to increase crowds, by how many and when. If its to win a grand final, which year of the 1-5. If its to increase revenue or attract new investment, again how will we do this and how much do we aim to generate.

Then what are the milestones, if we want 3k crowds for example, whats the uplift target for year 3. If we want to win a grand final, whats the targeted finishing position in year 3. Are we on track or behind for year 3 of 5.

2nd question, how is the new kit deal going so far. I've not seen any of the Foundation teams with new kits. Especially for the womens team as they are now in the Championship and have gained some increased traction. Will the new kit be ready for the big game vs Warrington.

Well done Mike Parson this definitely needs addressing with so many fans feeling annoyed with the same scenario every season. Abdul is clearly our best halfback and we are letting him go but if for family reasons it is understandable, but continuity is required especially in the pivotal positions like halfback? Lyons has never been good enough, and letting Bibby go without a replacement is a baffling decision from the coach. The stadium scenario is a big worry and people think if the Council sell it for housing then where do Widnes play, and fans will plummet which means less money for players? Personally I hope of a miracle and a high profile business person will buy the stadium and all profits go to the club. Then push for Super league with a decent side and big games against Warrington, Wigan, Saints and Leigh we can push near to 10k in the stadium. Well i can dream, but it be nice to know what will happen with the stadium. Personally if only in the Championship a new 5k stadium would be sufficient, but if have ambitions for Super League, then I feel a 9k to 10k stadium would be fine if got real ambitions. Fans need to know in honesty, because a lot of people are upset with the same thing every season. One last thing why does the coach not get enough prop forwards for his squad and too many back rowers?

Andrew Horabin did a great job and was disappointing to see him leave. Any chance he will come back if the RFL change the goal posts and give an opportunity for Widnes to get into Super League? We need to know are the club also engaging with the RFL to get the opportunity because feels like a closed shop. The stadium has to be the biggest concern for our progression.

How are the club addressing those missing points to forward our IMG application. How did Brad and York afford the big screen and advertising hoarding especially as York had less than half our attendances.
How far away is our A team from being game time.

Our first home game attracted 4,000 the next was just over two....why. What was different

Other clubs have "money men" are our board Not money men. Can we not offer free cars etc to enhance wages?

Podcast was recorded earlier today, it is now in the hands of the club to edit and publish. It was lengthy and lasted around an hour. I hope it is useful for people!
