This is a bit of a touchy subject but….

I’ll start off with

Gregory, Lyons, Grady, tyrer, smith, holroyd, levy, tilleke, bent

let me state I don’t know any of these guys and I’m sure they put 100% in I’m just going off performance or lack of

Holyroyd,Spedding,Tyrer,Lyons, Fleming?Smith,Levy,Grady,Tilleke, Gregory, Benty,Hulme,Daviesand,Wilde? That is a lot of players who in my opinion are just not good enough. I am pretty happy with Farnworth, Johnson and Amor as 3 props. Let's see how Doro does under Kear and hopefully Callum Field can sign too. Pascal wants determined and passionate players and I want Kear ruthless 👍🥖🥖🥖

@pascal I would assume we will retain  Hulme as 3rd choice hooker and hopefully bring in a new quality hooker. Gregory hasn’t been given much of a chance so would suggest he isn’t up to the standard. Players like Fleming and Wilde would be good squad players. I do hope said players prove us wrong and turn it around under kear

I put question marks on Wilde and Fleming. So possibly squad players or may work harder under Kear. One of Gregory or Hulme  possibly too, and may get more opportunities with Kear. Feel sorry for Fozzard playing lots of 80 min games.

I would keep the following

Owens, Brookes, Ince, Craven, Farnworth, Fozard, Wilde, Baker, Brown, Fleming, Davies, Roby, Johnson. A few of the above are already contracted anyway.

Doro and Field aren’t our players but would keep them if they wanted to stay and their clubs would release them.

Not stating I would jettison the entire rest of the squad (fully aware it is roughly half of it!) but they have roughly half a season to earn themselves a contract.

Won’t happen, but:

Owens, Craven, Lyons, Farnworth, Wilde and Lawton already under contract.

Leave: Brookes, Spedding, Tyrer, Smith, Baker, Bent, Gregory, Tilleke, Hulme, Holroyd, Nzoungo

Stay: Ince, Fozard, Grady, Brown, Fleming, Davies, Roby, Edge, Field, Johnson.

We can’t keep resigning players who underperform in the hope they will in the future. We can’t afford to bring through players at the bottom end of the squad unlike Wigan etc

we need players who can perform at this level now

Up to now I’d release

speddinG,tyrer,smith,Grady,bent, gregory,levy,Tileke,Holroyd,edge

id also add Lyons to that but he’s contracted and most of the rest are just because you can’t replace them all in one go like said above wilde massive question marks over offers nothing rarely changes the momentum of a game all you can say is he’s fit most weeks

Anyway over to the coach now to decide and unfortunately some are under contract. Hopefully Kear will get more out of these players, but a good few in my opinion are not good enough.

@pascal well actually the conversation will continue, it’s obviously up to kear but the debate is maybe about raising awareness from the fans point of view and maybe one or two new names could pop up regarding players who could be added to the squad, like Amor? Is that confirmed

On the day we announce a new coach to bring confidence into the team, a post like this just doesn’t help anything!

@steve I’m not trying to be negative but rather trying to raise a debate over the players who are simply not needed moving forward in the opinions of the guys on this forum. A lot of which are more informed than mine as I can’t get to the games. I doubt kear or the players themselves are reading this

Some of the players, and their families do read this though as we have found out in the past! Players and their parents have had a lot of negativity to read for some time, so a thread on who deserves to lose their job at the end of a season we are only halfway through won’t boost morale!

I think the point I maybe should’ve made though is that at this point in time, why would we want to keep any of these players next season? On current form we could be saying that they might want to reconsider career choices! BUT given the experience of a coach like Kear, it’s not impossible that he can rebuild their self-confidence, get them playing as a team and maybe even introduce a bit of a playbook and dare I say, a game plan. We have to remember that these players had a great start to the season so we know that they can do it if they are of the right mindset. I think it’s clear we have a group of players struggling mentally now so what they need is a leg-up, not a kicking!
