A solid win against a decent side with a decent ref I think we score 40 + Connell sambou and edge all looked capable of breaking through and the pack was very solid thought jj and mcwhirter especially good all in all great crowd a good feel good factor about the place it was actually fun to be there !! Roll on many more!!

A good win against a team full of dirty tricks throughout the game. We mainly held our discipline together well apart from a couple if instances.

Connell and McWhirter had good games as well as Sambou who got MoM. I’d worry about Connell at FB against Leeds as we don’t want him injured!

need a moan though! Went down when they scored just before HT and spent 25mins queuing for a Bovril as they ran out of pies and missed first 10 mins of second half. Every year the same poor service!

Injuries may be costly with Wilde, Grayson and possibly Edge picking up knocks.

I think a bit of a banana skin avoided there: NWC had a lot of former Widnes players there who were well up for it.

I thought we were a bit hit and miss, controlled the game a lot better second half- Sambou looks like an exciting player. Feel like we are still in the stage of trying to get combinations going. Kicking from JA was good.

Think the club are trying a different things a lot more now, and that shouldn't go unnoticed either.

Yes that was the crowd announced

which is absolutely fantastic and a win as well

nwc lucky to have 11 players on pitch at one stage with their high tackles

second half was the way we should be playing, Abdul pulling the strings very well

back row needs sorting - looks like Wilde could be out for a while which is a big blow

roberts back in I assume

but the biggest mystery is gregson, he plays mainly as a pivot - catch and pass, makes no yards in attack but defence is ok - whereas mcwhirter distributes well and makes hard yards

strange

I thought JJ smashed everything in defence, Joe Edge was a strong contender, all the middles did their job. Hopefully Sam Wilde's injury is not too serious, but he was really struggling when leaving the pitch, and it didn't look good. I don't think anyone could be criticised by the 'Boo Boys', even Lyons and Gregson did their jobs well.

@steve agreed Steve, I went down on the 35 min mark as I saw the size of the crowd so thought I had better get down early. 25 mins later got to the front all all pies sold out. I saw the last 4 cheese sell out just as I got to the front! Walked back to my seat and the 2nd half had already kicked off. With a 4k plus crowd surely the club now have the right to ask the council to open the full North stand, order more stock and utilise more than 1 serving counter. To only have 1 service point for about 3,000 people is daft.

Its not the end of the world but after all the effort the club put in on game day experience, to not even be able to buy 1 pie and miss some of the game in the process is not good. The club has stepped up its game, time for the council to do the same?

I enjoyed it, thought we were good in spells.

As usual, we conceded in the 39th minute which always add some nervousness. But I thought for long periods, we were the most likely.

They were a bit overly rough (fair enough) and, as has been said, had a point to prove given the number of ex-Chemics in their line-up.

Thought JO had a good game, played like a captain. Sambou and Connell should be fixtures in the team now, the centres were solid, Abdull is everywhere and Joey was good. The forwards worked hard, the JJ/Fox axis is really good.

Greg Eden looked like he was virtually over the line at one point then inexplicably passed and it came to nothing. That helped!

@dan1 I agree but I think we have to prove getting 4000 is the norm and not a one off or the council won't change

but that apart it feels like a cloud has lifted from club and the game day experience was one to enjoy
