@martin

My thanks again, Martin, for trying to assist me. Very kind and helpful of you.

I just checked back through my emails and notices as they appeared on the club site:-

In response to an email dated 27th June headed "New subscription scheme" I emailed WVnewscheme@outlook.com on 28th June expressing my interest. Note the capital WV.

Next on the 13th July, on the club site under the general heading of "News", I read an article headed " An Update regarding VIQI" again inviting interested parties to contact the club BUT this time quoting in red "wvnewscheme@outlook.com" - definitely lower case wv and actually in red lettering. As I had not heard from the club following my original 28th June email I wrote again, this time to wv etc, lower case wv.

So, Martin, I have now written twice without any response, each time to the email address provided, once to WV and once to wv.

I give up!

Sunny it might be easier to call the club or ask someone in the South Stand.. But I admit need to sort the organisation out. 🥖🥖🥖👍

@sunny agree that this must be very frustrating. Organisation should/could be better. All I’ve had is the generic message announcing that the new scheme will start in august. The capital/lowercase thing should not impact email addresses. Also, check your junk folder in case the reply has gone there (I’ve had this before). I’ll try and stay updated and post on here if and when I find anything out.

Introducing - Widnes Vikings Independent Player Support (Widnes VIPs) - Thank you Lena Hough for the suggestion.

Just to provide an update of where we are up to, following our latest committee meeting:

Roles of committee members as follows:

Chair – Anne-Marie Hughes

Vice Chair – Chris Smith

Secretary – Andy Lee

Treasurer – John Paton

Membership Secretary – John Hollins

PR/Media - Position available

Fundraiser – Leam Fox (assisted by Anne-Marie)

The committee has agreed the constitution for the scheme, this will be published on the new website when ready to launch, copy attached.   Social media to be set up closer to launch.

An EGM will be set (estimated 6 months after launch), for members to have their say, discuss constitution, how the scheme is going & feedback.  As VIQI has ended, we want to get started as soon as possible.

Website construction is underway, which will provide a link on how to join the new scheme as soon possible.

We’ve applied for a bank account, which takes around 6 weeks to open.

DBS checks for committee members  who don't already hold one have been applied for. Policies such as privacy notice/data protection are being written and will need to be agreed.

Manual application for non-internet members to follow.

Further updates will be available in due course.

Kind regards

Widnes VIPs

Especially for you Sunny😀😀😀👍👍👍

Have I missed something? I thought the whole point of this was that it was being brought inside the club, to be managed them professionally. This looks like it's basically VIQI with a different group of random volunteers?

At least there will be transparency as a couple of them can't hold their own water.

I agree with Northstar, I was expecting it to be run "in house" as opposed to a group of volunteers, with maybe a small representative committee who had to agree where funds would be spent.

But surely that could prejudice the independence of the fund and would be seen by many as  allowing the Board to do as it liked?

I want to give a little bit of money to the club. I want the club to use this money to buy players at their discretion. I want the option of regular monthly or weekly payments or one off. I’d like the balances to be published each quarter. There could be a statement of intent that’s really visible so people know what they are buying in to. I’m not a big business brain but this doesn’t sound too tricky. Haven’t batley got a fund set up for buying players???

Anne-Marie Hughes 🥴🥴🥴🥴

I don't have a problem with A-MH, she puts a lot of money to the Club, is passionate, and runs a successful business.

That said, the some of the rest of the committee set off alarm bells. Just my opinion, which counts for nothing.

Not professional enough, for me.

What’s the difference between this scheme and viqi? Is it just a different team of volunteers with job roles because relations soured between the club and the previous team of volunteers?

@martin

It says VIQI has now ended, but they are still taking money out of my bank account. Do you know if I have to contact my bank myself to cancel it?

@farnworth-viking not sure, but I would expect so as I’m sure it will be a new bank account that has been set up for the new project👍

Hi Martin,

Thank you very much for expressing your interest in the new membership scheme to support player acquisition and retention at Widnes Vikings.

A recent statement from VIQI informed members that their scheme would formally end on 1st August 2022 and will no longer take donations from its members after this date. In order to ensure that no one makes payments into both schemes, the new scheme will not be taking donations until after that date. Please continue to make payments to VIQI until 1st August

1st August us cut off date

After the launch meeting on Thursday, 7th July, details will be available as to how you can sign up for the new scheme, via an online link, although payments will not be taken until August.

May I, once again, thank you for showing your commitment to continue to support our club in this way, especially during the current financial climate.

Kind regards,

Membership Team

1st August is cut off date according to this mail I got
