My first choice 17

3 games in this would be my 17. I have gone for size and power in the pack with Lawton and McWhirter starting in the back row, 2 proper props on the bench and an impact back rower and impact hooker.

In the backs I have gone for pace and try scoring ability in the form of Sergent, Connell and Sambou. Sambou averaging a try a game for Oldham and Sergent being top try scorer for Warrington reserves last season with 11 in 9 games.

1. Connell

2. Butt

3. Sambou

4. Edge

5. Sergent

6. Abdull

7. Gilmore

8. Murray

9. Johnstone

10. Chapelhow

11. Wilde

12. Lawton

13. McWhirter

14. Fozzard

15. Bibby

16. Houghton

17. Langtree

Thoughts?

Butts out injured and I don’t think Gilmore will be fit. So I would go gor

Connell

Ince

Fleming

Sambou

Edge

Owens

Abdull

Chspplehow

JJ

Murray

Langtree

Wilde

Mc Whirter

Subs

Fozzard

Lawton

Bibby

Hall

18th man Roberts

But I doubt wether he will drop Gregson and he’ll probably play Owens at centre and keep Lyons at half back.

I meant my 17 when everyone is available rather than the next game. I would'nt have Owens at stand off on Sunday though.

@dan1, I think most Widnes fans would pick that as their team, not sure AC would. It's his head on the block, we'll see.

That would be my team but swap Langtree with Lawton. I just think Lawton would be more devastating coming on when players are tiring. Langtree a tough cookie and if stays fit we will have a very good season with him and Wilde. Unfortunately Coleman loves his favorite's Gregson, Lyons and Owens. I do like Max Roberts as a squad player but is not big enough for the back row for me. Personally non of us have seen Sergent play, but what i here from Tim Holmes he sounds full of speed which we need on the wing.

I'd probably have Lawton on the bench , and go with Sargeant on the wing and connel at full back

If 'The Captain' is fit, then he plays, no matter who we are playing. That's why he's the Captain. He's the Coach's on field General, selected for his game knowledge, rallying his troops, and calling the shots. He is vastly mis-judged by some fans because they are ball watching, and don't see what he is doing. He's not perfect, as all players are not perfect. If JO drops a ball then the messageboard 'erupts'. All players knock-on.

A good fun post. From what I have watched so far I would go with the following if every player was fit to play

1) Nathan Connell

2) Jumah Sambou

3) Joe Edge

4) Jack Owens

5) Mike Butt

6) Jordan Abdull

7) Tom Gilmore

8) Dan Murray

9) Jordan Johnstone

10) Jay Chapelhow

11) Sam Wilde

12) Danny Langtree

13) Morgan McWhirter

14) Matty Fozard

15) Adam Lawton

16) Jack Bibby

17) Max Roberts

Placed Sambou on the Wing as he has just arrived, would like to see him get a run at Centre.

Ironically neither of our "Loose-Forwards" make my team. I think freeing up Morgan could be an unexpected weapon for us. Playing him their also means that if we lose a Prop throughout the game we would still have 4 to rotate.

I also think its pivotal Jordan Johnstone and Matty Fozard are on the pitch as long as possible together.

By doing that your starting Loose-forward in my eyes has to be able to play an alternative position to get the most out of our interchanges and for them to be effective.

I would also say that both Butt and Ince's starting positions are well and truly under threat. (or should be)
