We do seem to be going over the top for an inexperienced 21 year-old prop, released by Leeds. I hope he is as good as people are saying, but we still need to bring in a couple of experienced props too.

Well, the Oldham fans seem to hold him in extremely high regard which is a good sign. Not easy to stand out in a team that has won only two games all season.

Tony Club will be available. Has he still got anything left in the tank.

Dupree has a decent scoring record, I think he has crossed the try line eight times in 13 starts.

Where we fall short is bulk. Energetic lighter forwards can match heavier opponents but it takes physical effort and energy.

Close to the line bulk takes a lot of energy to counter and that is where we suffer atm. Trying to keep a 17 stone plus dead weight from falling over isn't easy!

We’ve lost the battle in the middle of the field too often this season. In the first half against Dewsbury it was very evident again.

One of the Twins was at yesterday's game - and NO, I didn't ask him when he was joining us!

Has there been any news of the speculated signings of Aaron Brown, Brad Holroyd yet. I know Baker always puts a good shift in, but I agree with the general opinion that he could give so much more at 13 and would add a much needed attacking option from the pack.

This was in the Manchester Evening News a day or two ago;

Widnes Vikings are set to continue their recruitment for 2022 with the additions of Aaron Brown and Brad Holroyd.

Rugby League Live can reveal the Vikings are closing in on Sheffield ace Brown, who inflicted misery on the club two years ago by scoring a hat-trick against Widnes in the 1895 Cup Final defeat to the Eagles at Wembley.

Brown was named man of the match as Mark Aston's men toppled Widnes, but he now looks set to make the move to the club as part of a growing recruitment drive by Simon Finnigan for 2022.

Brown, 29, will bring proven Championship experience having spent the past nine seasons in the second-tier.

Still not definite signings but encouraging to see that the MEN thinks these deals will come to fruition.

If we are looking at a lightweight loose forward like Brown I guess that Baker could shift to second row. Suits his style better than prop.

Still need at least a couple of honest older props to give us changes if needed.

Still think we might see Smithy as an Asst Coach, funds permitting.
