He also cost us the Big Bash game by getting a stupid sin bin for reacting to bit of a wind up at the play the ball under the Barrow posts. They went up the other end and scored - a 12 point turnaround.
Getting closer to a done deal,Johnson to Bradford. From the same reporter.
Not letting him play against us is an interesting deal rather than asking for a bit of cash but I guess no championship teams ever have proper transfer deals
’the club was understanding of his circumstances’ He’s having to come from Yorkshire to Widnes not like he’s homesick from Aus 🤣
What’s the point in contracts?
We let under contact Dupree go, we sign Johnson and now we’re letting him go while under contract.
Don't know why he bothered agreeing to the move in the first place.Obviously his heart was never in it,here.
Buzzing this guy has gone, as his heart is not in Widnes and hopefully he gets snotted when we play Bradford. Hopefully buy a half back with the money spare. 🥖🥖🥖👍 Time to party on in a French passion style 🍾🍾🎉🎉
Dupree was different as he had already signed for Salford for next season and Johnson came the other way in exchange. He had a full 12 months to go on his contract and no player has come in exchange so Bradford should of paid a fee to sign him. He was named in our first choice 17 for the season.
Wasn't a first choice 17 player for me anyway, so if he doesn't want to play for Widnes then he's welcome to go to Bradford IMO.
Amor, Hatton, Walker, Farnworth and Field all ahead of him: my only concern is that we only have Tilleke as a back up to them.
Also, maybe Kear didn't fancy him as a player, bringing in a number of his own forwards ahead of him?
No real loss at all, probably a benefit in wage savings
I haven't read a word of thanks from Bradford or Johnson to Widnes for agreeing to his release and allowing the deal to go through at this late stage.I stand corrected, though.
Branford’s statement says
‘when we learnt he was a free agent’
as if they didn’t tap him up and asked him to ask for a release. Sounds like a Brian noble trick!
Even though we are talking about a prop, I am not bothered about losing him.
There are far better ways of imposing yourself on a game than giving away penalty after penalty and the guy obviously could not find his arse h**e with a map and a sat nav if he did not know how far it was from his home to Widnes.
I am hopeful that we have enough in the tank to keep close to or in the playoff spots ,that we can keep our powder dry and have some funds to spare to invest later in the season
We have had quite a few mercenary players over the years and I'd put JJ in that category. Never once looked like he wanted to be here whilst on the pitch. I'd sooner see Will Tileke develop over the years because it shows in his performances he wants to be with us and loves the club. JJ is no big loss.
Not in the Bradford team again, same as last week.

Am I right in thinking he's not allowed to play against us this year anyway?
