By saying I think he needs to go out on loan to gain experience isn’t having a go at his ability but more importantly to help the lad improve his game and help his progress
I think people are just being realistic on Tilleke ability at this level and is just not good enough if we have ambitions to be in the top 4. Look at the Chapelhows for example they are lovely lads, but not good enough for top level Championship or bottom end Superleague. Tilleke does need game time and his level probably bottom end Championship or for West Bank. Too much sympathy about being a Widnes lad, and the ones who are good enough from Widnes are in Super league now. There is no loyalty in sport, and as fans we want the best squad and team possible wherever they live. I love to play for Widnes but I am shite. 😂🥖🥖🥖
@pauliewalnuts if you’re good enough you’re good enough we don’t have time to wait till he’s mid or late 20s we need competitive good players now. For example Morgan smithies is 22 and good enough for super league. Age is nothing it’s his rugby ability and he’s not good enough for us.
Fair minded words JK.I think Mike O'Neill was knocking on the Widnes first team dressing door at age 19/20.Top Division, not second rate standard.
Chapwlhows once 28 we can sign them, because be good then 😂😂 Seriously in this division we need players now to be in the top 4. Tilleke is not good enough and club have to sign the best squad players they can to be competitive. Winning will get bums on seats and bring in money for better players. End of the day Widnes and Bradford the big clubs in this league.
I am not sure that it is fair or accurate to suggest that “Kear clearly does not rate Tilleke”. Maybe he just rates other props we have as a better option. Don’t we still have Amor, Walker, Field and Hatton available, which is probably two more props than we had available for most games last year? As mentioned, it is likely that Tilleke will play in the cup game.
I would guess that Kear had some say in re-signing Tilleke on a two year contract. Sadly, Morgan Smithies and players of his calibre will not be coming to Widnes just now, so we just have to settle for the standard that we can attract.
Maybe the Club have been looking at potential loan signings in the event of further injuries. We will have to wait and see. I would rather use the players in our squad than bring in a loan player for the odd game. A season long loan or signing would be preferable, if the players are available.
He's just a squad member,a filler. That's nothing personal against the lad, just fact.In an ideal world we would have equal ability props waiting in reserve but we don't live in an ideal world.I said at the time that Johnson should have been granted a release when it suited us,not him. When a replacement was brought in for him.Not that he was pulling up any trees either.
