JJs agent contacted the club after Cas contacted them. He has put his apprenticeship on hold BUT will be returning to it soon. 👍

If it’s true he’s instigated the move he shouldn’t be allowed to come back,It’s through the likes of him and other senior players why the team is in the position they are,’When’ he’s played he’s been awful I think he thought he’d cruise by dropping a division but like Amor he’s been found wanting.

I see it’s now confirmed by the club,  therefore I can now say my tuppence worth. It is as plain as the nose on your face that our once great club is dying in-front of our eyes. This board is not fit for purpose and simply look like they haven’t got a clue about how to run a fcukin tap never mind the club. I’ve been a season ticket holder for years, I will not be renewing my ST next year and I’m sure I won’t be the only one not renewing. We have all been taken for idiots. Like I’ve said on another post, I'll never slag off anyone going to watch Widnes, but after 40 odd years of doing so, this is the final straw for me. I genuinely hope I’m wrong, but I can’t see the club existing in 2 years time. Adios.

As we all appreciate this is very concerning. The club really do need to release a statement now covering the financial position & whether it is true they are planning on cutting expenditure on the squad next year. Why Hamilton has been appointed instead of investment in the playing squad. Their intention to have a loan agreement with a SL club next year which should be being worked on now.

The only reference to reducing expenditure on the playing squad that I have seen was in the Yorkshire paper that broke the news. So let us hear the real facts from the club.

Just to come at it from a glass half full perspective, could it be that JJ has been playing poorly and we are stuck with him until next season. The chance to sign a quality hooker has come up to help us get out of this mess, so we have shifted JJ onto Cas? I await the announcement of Daryl Clark or Brad O'Neil shortly 🙂

It is all well and good saying there are no plans to cut the player budget next year, but the fact is the squad has been  cut this year by 4 players. I do wonder now whether they would have allowed Gilmore to leave if he had shown any interest in going to Featherstone.

It makes no sense to let Johnstone go to Castleford on loan and still retain his contract for next year, if the Club have any ambition to turn things around this year. I would guess that the “excellent” replacement we are bringing in will be a two/four week loan. It would have made more sense to have asked for a transfer fee for Johnstone and let him go permanently and then looked to sign a replacement.

If the Club is not facing imminent financial uncertainty, they need to bring in this “excellent” replacement now for the rest of the season and update fans of when they expect the position of Coach to be filled - the sooner, the better - and what plans they have in place to strengthen the squad this year, with a couple of props and a half-back.

I agree that, on current form, it is unlikely that we will reach the play-offs this year, but surely the Club should be looking to strengthen the squad now; and not simply seeming to write off the season whilst there is still a chance, if only a remote possibility, of a play-off place. If the Club have no ambition, why should fans bother to turn up at games this year, or season ticket holders bother to renew for 2024.

On the question of finance, why was VIQI allowed to fold when it had successfully raised funds for the Club over several years and no reason why this would not have continued; with its replacement instigated by the Club, being an unmitigated disaster.

Hamilton was appointed to run the club. Without someone running the club we wouldn’t have any investment in the squad. Someone has to run the club, because the board doesn’t. They delegate it to someone else. My problem is they’ve appointed the wrong person. It happens, but they need to rectify it

The club letting a 26 year old go and play full time rugby league for 3 months is the final straw after 40 years?!?!!

I've said quite a few times JJ has been poor this season, he hasn't looked particularly fit either so I don't think this is too much of a bad thing, CH has eluded to the fact this isn't a financial move and simply that JJ wanted to go and play full time RL.  I don't blame him one bit considering how our season is panning out.

This could be an opportunity to bring in a decent replacement and shake the team up a little bit.

VIQI folded Frank because they decided to stop, simples. Its successor VIPS has nothing to do with the club and is totally independent and if I remember correctly its numbers are now on par with VIQI except for the burst we received when we went bust which took it over 1000.

I was speaking to somebody at the club last week, they said there is money available for players but it's about getting value for money.

Rather than pick one line out and trying to act clever, read the whole thing. We are struggling to put a fuckin side out some weeks, yet the club thinks its a good idea to let a lad go, without replacing him and saying absolutely rag all to the mugs, sorry, fans regarding the situation. We have been played for fools for too long now. It got to a point where I was making excuses NOT to go on Sundays, I couldn't even give my season ticket away. Even the hardcore fans are pissed about the situation now. Attendances show what people think about how the circus is being run.

The membership of VIQI was still fairly healthy when it closed. The setting up of the new system unfortunately coincided with the cost of living crisis getting worse. Also I bet a fair number just could not be bothered signing up again to the new scheme.
