Why do you think that’s happening Sinbad?

Forum is dying a slow death. Not many posts or posters, no banter or laughs and the appearance and layout of the board is’nt appealing.

Not going to disagree with you about the  boards appearance but i feel that there has been lately some of the old board returning. As for banter and laughs I don't recall any in the last few days or months of the last board as people were disappearing fast due to the disgusting tirade of a few frequent posters that drove people away from here.  Mystic Megs who were able to see far into the future and predict all kinds and if you disagreed with them you were called for your opinion. One even said he didn't watch Widnes, another went to a JR meeting and never opened his mouth (my friend sat behind him)yet spent hours on here telling us what he would say and how he said it.  I don't want and I think no one else wants them days back. Quite happy the way it is and as long as they stay away more will return then you can discuss in a sensible way

The current rugby forum web site was certainly a leap forward from the previous forum. Flash has given himself a big task in developing the site and keeping it up to date. It is still in its early days and given time may develop into a decent site for Widnes fans with information and comment about the club.

I had followed the previous forum for several years before I posted anything. I actually found it interesting reading the views of posters on the team and rumours affecting the club.  I think the previous forum started deteriorating when a small group of posters claimed to be the only ones who knew what was happening under the previous regime; and anyone who had the temerity to question them was subject to personal attacks and insults.

I had intended to continue reading posts on the new site, but not to contribute. I initially found it difficult to actually log into the site and gave up on several occasions, but this was resolved. I also found the forum a bit more difficult to navigate than the previous forum., but again changes have been made to improve this.

I agree that there should be room for humour and banter between posters and an opportunity to disagree and have a contrary view, but without being the subject of vitriolic attacks and personal threats and insults.

I believe that the negativity on the previous site and the initial difficulty in logging into the new site has had an impact on the numbers signing on to the new forum. Maybe more will re-join and new members will  join the forum given time, but I hope that we can have a grown-up exchange of views, whilst still being able to disagree on issues.

As for the disappointing attendance at the Whitehaven game - still a good crowd in this division and most other clubs must envy the support we continue to get - what would you expect with the appalling displays against London and Dewsbury. With the combination of poor form and unsettled weather conditions, people will choose to go elsewhere or watch sport on tv on a cold Sunday afternoon. My guess is that there will be another disappointingly  (but not unexpected) small crowd at the Swinton game, but with a decent performance in that game and against Sheffield, we could have a crowd of around 4000 for the Toulouse game (even on a Saturday afternoon).

As others have said, just think that a lot of people haven't moved over and we are at the end of a bad 3-4 years were the club was badly abused during that time.

Even if we are now passed that stage of immediate danger, I dont think there's been a time in the last 20 years where the bar has been set so low. After our previous relegation there were finals and the expectation of promotion. Then came the O'Connor years, promotion and steady progress.

Obviously it's great we've still got a club after hitting rock bottom last year, but dont think we're in a great position from a marketing point of view.

As a separate point does Flash advertise the site anywhere. Must admit I'm not big on the old social media. Is it possible some fans just arent aware of the new board?

And wasn't there another Wire fan, Graham C W. They all gave a bit of good banter without overstepping the mark. Probably got fed up with all the abuse they were getting from the numbskulls that were prevalent on that board at the time.

I used to equate the old board with blokes sat in a bar. Views were exchanged and alternatives suggested. Plenty of differing views. The great thing was that you could be persuaded rather than abused. Some of the vitriol was just that.

What most 'lickspittles' wanted was some proof, of which there was none at the time. Finally it came out and maybe that justified the frustration of the accusers, but it didn't excuse the vitriol imo.

Re the crowd last week iirc there were counter attraction on tv, but additional costs have never been attractive if you've bought a season ticket.

To see TS coaching players who had been overlooked, with a few experienced oldsters alongside, is facinating and, whilst we may not be top of the tree is a remarkable recovery from what might have been a complete disaster.

Once the game shuts down - as it surely very soon will - it will be interesting to see what happens when some of us 'dodgers' have only a few outlets such as this to get us through our self-isolation.

Enjoy the game today if you're going. It'll probably be your last (for a while😊).

Could be the last game for a month, or three, or more! Let's all enjoy it win or lose and get behind the team.
