Well are the club going out to places looking for new investors for the club? Think they at least need to be proactive and must be something in 2 big cities in Liverpool and Manchester near by. Plus enough industry in Widnes and Runcorn too? Sounded a better performance today, but we need points now and having 2 new props with size and a number 6 would help. I am unsure of the best realistic coach, but one who plays expansive rugby league would at least excite the crowds. Someone mentioned fans doing shares and this new scheme taking over VIQI is never pushed more? Time for the board to look for investors at least make an effort.

Deffo need some more investment and get local businesses involved more and if that fails take the Salford approach where fans buy in, if only potential investors could’ve seen how good a following we had today the Widnes fans was immense. Imagine with more backing and better performances how good home games could be and eventually they’d see some returns 🤔

Pascal, not sure where you have been for the last few years but the clubs been screaming out for Investors and no ones come forward. In fact its that bad that director I was talking to the other day asked me to invest in the club and I'm just a retired lecturer!!!! I actually went to the AGM of ViPS the other week and it is run by a great group of dedicated fans who only want the best for the club and try and push the process more but are not allowed to do certain things because of restrictions by the club. They were at the fans forum the other week and forms could be found at the Longhouse fans base before and after the match and to be honest in my opinion that is the best way for the fans to invest in the club, at the moment 136 paying fans which could be more. How many on this web site are actual members and i believe from as little as a fiver a month. Do the maths 200 fans paying £10 a month =£24,000 per annum. OR a very good signing

@martin problem is the country is on its arse and people have better things to spend money on like increasing energy bills and ridiculous food prices.its not that easy anymore to spend the extra cash you have on luxuries.

I'm guessing that's why the vips is so low..

I know that JJ, and to be honest I was addressing Pascal who was mentioning shares etc. If people can afford it and want the club to be better then VIPS is a perfect way to help for a small donation monthly.

I am mentioning this as so many people moaning about the squad and nobody coming up with ideas to help improve the club. Sunny boy was mentioning to Ratboy about Shares as he used to do it? Possibly Sunny can go Longhouse Bar and see these forms. I don't know if the club email local businesses, pop into places and ask especially the big companies. Anyway how about Backhouse on board again. 😂👍

If we take ''our'' black & white specs off for a minute, why would anybody invest serious money into WVRLFC??

What are our assets? What about the horrible plastic pitch? What would HBC's involvement/attitude be towards new investors? Why would anybody currently fork out £££££'s to buy the stadium even if it was for sale?

Maybe the stadium is a goldmine? I don't know

So what is the plan then to be more competitive? We have one of the best supported teams in the league but teams with 800 fans do much better like Batley and Sheffield. People always complain about the club, but don't think of ideas to improve the team and bring extra revenue to be one of the top teams. No way Swinton, Batley and Sheffield should be doing better with a third of our gates? Fired up I need a Pinkies now, as nobody giving any good ideas but like a fudging moan about our owners. 🙈💩 Dog crunchie and Featherstone are not that big of a club and smashing it

Do Wigan and Leigh and perhaps others, own their own grounds? They seem to attract investment. I am not sure any of those who are pumping money to keep SL clubs afloat ever see it as an investment. They are primarily fans who are prepared to throw their money at the club, with no expectation of any financial return.

How many of those clubs in SL would survive without the RFL funding and why they are always looking for a larger slice of the Sky cake?

It would be good if a local business or a few local businesses were prepared to sponsor some decent players to give us an edge in the Championship and maybe a better chance of promotion and the extra central funding. I am sure the Club are always looking for investment but, in the meantime, we will have to live on the RFL scraps and a decent local support to find that competitive team we all want to see.

@frankg

Some good points there Frankg. According to the TV match the other night player insurance has rocketed recently after the head injury worries, so there will be less to hand out to clubs. Wigan. iirc, don't own their ground and rely on their Chairman to slip them the odd half a million every other year or so!

We do have a relatively big support base but in an area of low economic worth it doesn't amass funds at anything like the rate required. The support base also gives a platform for keyboard warriors only too ready to rubbish the club - not an attractive image for a possible investor. Criticism and discussion of games is all grist to the mill but virtual slander is just not on without real facts to back it up in a legal manner.

The loss of VIQI was a blow but starting the Wvips came at just the wrong time. Like the rest of the 130 odd members I will continue to support the VIPs, hoping that others may follow. The large wealthy companies were present for years in the Widnes history but there aren't that many these days.

The professionalisation of sport generally leaves me cold tbh and makes the 'local lad' image that was present in RL years ago has gone. Sport is seen as a way to make money for the rest of a lad's or a girl's life!!!

Just hope that we manage to attract a good coach soon and recruit well. It's no comfort but Wire and others who seem to have both are also prone to failure!!!!
