I think it shows the resson why some of these coches are second string and will probably stay second string...average coaches at this level of player and poor when it comes to business coz they arent business people, add to them a group of indivuduals who play at being business men and women and you end up with Widnes now. the squad is pretty much bar a few what we ended with lasy year...Fax are pants too and looking at thier game against fev last week this will be 2 teams playing, with players who dont know each other ...sounds rivetting.
Apparently Leigh could recall Brogan if they were short of players, which they were last night. He was on the bench for them.
These loans don’t help Widnes, when you never know how long you’re going to have the player for. No point in the coach planning anything more than a week ahead.
How can the Club put out that 'Injury Update' on the Official Site, yesterday, then name 3 (Owens, Fleming, Edge) in the squad for tomorrow? Is someone taking the piss at Naughton Towers?

They don't have the balls to name the only fit 18 available. It's like admitting a mistake to releasing players mid season.
If we can somehow eek out a win tomorrow I'd be very impressed. I do cringe at the number of Wire players we are forced to play because of the squad composition though.
Well it’s obvious the 18 when you take away the injured players and as pascal says Roby will probably be 18th man, but still think enough there to win the game
looking forward we will deffo have 2 extras next week - Kirk and bent
other than that, Fleming and edge unsure, but Owens may also be fit
then next is Reilly in September ?
that would be like having a new player and hopefully in the playoffs the season may just improve

Especially as one of the signings meant to make up for one of those being released has been recalled...
We've only just got enough to name a 13 of our own players.
We had a thin squad entering January before what in my opinion were three 'loan' signings designed to appease those concerns (Wilson, Green, Whitehead), who have a grand total of 2 appearances for Widnes between them.
When Dan Murray signed, that took us up to 25 of our own players (including Reilly, who was crocked by then). Since lost Tilleke, Walker and Dixon and brought zero players in permanently.
So even without injuries, we'd only have enough to name 21 (excluding Reilly). Given our injury record and the apparent wear and tear of the pitch, this doesn't seem like the best way to go about things.

More chance of seeing me in a Widnes shirt this season than Reilly

Paulie, really hope you wrong but at least he will be fit for next season
@ditton-donkey I think we will definitely struggle to make the play offs,I hope I'm proved wrong but but there's a pretty small difference between us and the chasing pack we can't afford many more slip ups.
I don't think that anyone can predict or avoid injuries, certainly we aren't the only club suffering!
I, for one, don't think that AC is an idiot. He has much more experience coaching at our present level with very little money to spend than me or pretty well anyone on this board. Managing on low income is an art in itself!
On this line and bearing in mind the small number of possible signings available for next year, it wouldn't be a bad idea to save as much as we can to make us ready to sign players, should they become available. It may be hard to countenance but our real chance of success in the play offs is pretty remote, and that isn't to say that we shouldn't try.
Our ST sales next year won't be much higher than this so we won't be that well off, but a couple of quality signings before Christmas could boost sales.
Whoever had the bright idea to post an injury update just a couple of days before the squad announcement needs a polite bollocking.

Yet fans complain when they're not kept in the loop... can't win.
