It looks like Sam Brookes to be announced tonight. A bit worrying Dudson not yet announced. Surely if he had signed he would be announced ahead of Brookes as more high profile. Dudson would be a very good signing imo.
Not saying we should or shouldn’t but remember when saints signed that Dan Hill from us and he was the next best thing? Just reading an article about players out of contract and he’s on there, has anyone followed his career since leaving us? Is he any good?

Hill was really good as a younger kid, not sure how or why he didn't get kept on. I think he had a few injuries.
Saints unfortunately have many Widnes lads or at least ex-Widnes academy lads on their books.... Ben Davies, Jon Benison, Lewis Dodd, George Delaney and Jake Burns has signed full time for 2024. All are either from Widnes or Widnes lads. Dan Norman was also released, think he's gone Leigh.
Hill had the opportunity to sign full-time at Saints for 2022, so no brainer to go there rather than be part-time at Widnes as a back-up. He played six games in 2021 for Widnes but had injuries.
You'd like to think (like the other lads who mentioned) if he was available and wanting to return to part-time rugby that Widnes would be top of his list of options.
But given Widnes already have Owens, Fleming and Edge all signed who can play full-back, not sure whether money will be best spent elsewhere.

The club seem to think that the fans are all waiting with baited breath,on tenterhooks with excitement.Unable to bear the suspense.Well they are wrong.It's tedious and boring.Just anounce the entire 2024 squad,as it stands now.
I had assumed perhaps wrongly, that our business was largely done and all we were doing was the merry dance before contracts were up of announcing signings/re-signings on the drip, which, like most posters, I just find irritating.
I suppose there could still be deals being done, as other clubs release and sign players or perhaps with players to whom we've made an offer, but who have tried to better it elsewhere and come back. I know there is always the argument to withdraw the offer from someone "not committed", but if they are worth having they are worth having, especially as we are supposed to be low payers!
What ever is going on, it doesn't seem targeted at generating excitement, or sending us rushing to renew or season tickets. There was a ripple of excitement when Kirk was announced and a fair bit of relief when Foz resigned, but its been pretty flat since then, which is no disrespect to the signings/re-signings announced since, but they have just been "routine".
Oh for the days of a single semi-marquee signing, who can excite the fanbase. OK we can't afford to go too mad, but there must be scope, you would hope. There would have been a time when Declan Patton fitted this category and Swinton have managed to get him on board. We don't need an Anthony Gelling just a few decent top Championship performers!

It's stupid because they effectively already announced who was staying when they confirmed who was leaving. Should have just been a simple one post - these players have signed new deals.
This charade that's playing out is just winding people up even more, and shows how out of touch the new great leader really is.
