He is 37 years old and does add something different though and a little competition.
With a decent pack Sammutt could be a decent option at 6 or cover for Gilmore at 7.. Saying that we should have tried to get him about 5 years ago.
i think he would be great on a one year deal, he’d provide competition/cover and he would bring Lyons game on with his experience. I hope we are speaking to his agent
Agree.. sammut would be a very shrewd piece of business ..seen him loads past two seasons and as much as he has an absolute howler in him he brings far more in his ability to create something out of nothing ..and trust me 37 is just a number ..he's still quick .still got the quick feet and there's not an ounce of fat on him ,I'd even go as far as saying he's probably fitter than the vast majority of halves in the championship..problem will be finance as that's predominantly the reason he's left barrow..they can't afford nor willing to match his salary from previous seasons

He is always a danger in an opposing back line but it always seems to be as an individual loose cannon rather than as part of a team. That is probably why he is where he is.
If AC is trying to operate with an organised back line, which looks likely, he may not want a wanderer in the middle of his organisation!
I wouldn't have thought Sammut was in a position to call the shots at his age, re money demands.
