We should be looking at Jonathan Ford who has just been released by Fev, an old headed ball-player who can guide us around the pitch
Just seen that Fev "unloaded" list, and seventeen won't be there next term!
Would Ford be a good punt for you mob? He's a quality footballer as he showed across la Manche, but never hit the same heights whilst at POR, and he's not twenty-one any more.
He's obviously looking for a club, so will he end up at NP? Time will tell, but I'm not holding my breath!
Spelly.

No.

@spelly Assuming Gregson is coming to us how do you rate him?
Is he quick, can he break the line with srength or sidestep & in your opinion is he a good standoff or better at second row?
He wore six in the season just ended, but many Lions (yours truly included) reckoned he was far better in the back row, or at thirteen.
In my opinion, a stand off he is not, so..........................
It'll be interesting (if he has / does become a Chemic) what number Coleman allocates to him.
I'm sure he'll be fired up when it's your mob v mine next term, as will the others who've made a similar journey, and it'll be up to us to extinguish that fire.
Do I wish 'em well? Let me answer that with the old saying goes "If you want loyalty, buy a dog!"
Spelly.
Based on what Coleman was saying last night, I'd have thought he's got Gregson lined up to play 13. Spoke about Leigh using Asiata as an extra playmaker at 13 to create space for running halves.

Jane's, we don't have any running halves!
@wrlfcefc1989 Lyons does not create breaks himself much but he does support breaks & is fairly nippy. Trouble has been our forwards have rarely broke the line to offload. I agree regarding Gilmore. I think Tom readjusted his game to a mainly kicking / short ball player after receiving several bad injuries.
I do think however we need another half back for cover or improve at 6.
Just released, we have signed Butt from Swinton, a flying winger😂
Now confirmed on the club site that Mike Butt has signed a 1 yr contract.
We seem to have plenty of competition for the wing position now.
Why does a squad need 4 specialist wingers?
Seeing the squad written down on paper I can’t believe how weak it is.
Coleman is going to be some coach if he gets us in the play offs.
Ironically Swinton look to have signed well. I’d of had that Spencer Tonks in a heart beat
@rl-the-winner I’d have Swinton’s recruits over ours every day of the week
So we have Dixon, Ince, Brookes and Butt as wingers. Personally I think 3 is enough unless one drops to fullback cover or centre? I am not sure on how good Butt is to be honest possibly Spelly can let us know? The backs I am happy with apart from need a number 6 for competition with Lyons. Forwards I would say 2 big back rowers and then done. A back rower who can also play centre if required too. Then utilise Dr and Loans from Saints, Wigan and Warrington.

** Lost a yard of his pace over the past couple of seasons, but still a good finisher. Can also fill in at full-back. Was very popular at the Lions **
I'm happy with our retentions, and incomings. The target has gotta be to get the better of the Naughton Parkers next term, and finish above you on the ladder. Biased moi?

Well looks like 4th choice winger unless stands out. Ince, Dixon and Brookes are decent wingers. Possibly competition for Jack Owens at fullback.
It'll be a competition as to who is the best defence organiser deciding who the reserve full back might be.
We need to get the best out of our line up and that isn't helped by chopping and changing week after week.
Notice that, according to Wiki, Butt is pretty lightweight, presumably relying on sheer pace, which is OK in a winger maybe but a FB should be able to tackle and stop\1

A defending fullback is old school. Nowadays they're pretty much a half back playing wide in the attack. Catch and kick return, pace and halfback skills are the main credentials of a full back these days. One and one defence is a nice to have.
