Looks very much like trimming the outgoings and getting ready for next year. The drop in numbers from VIQI to VIPs will leave a hole until (hopefully) they rise again.
We do of course still have the remainder of the VIQI funds to come.
I can't see us promising money for contracts that we can't afford, which is as it should be.
Must say that our new Chairman sounds like just what we need, and if I read it correctly the potential for new investors, not a big flourish but steady and sound.
I can't say that I like the system of lining up next season from May. At that time we should still be concentrating on the live season!!!!!

Feel a bit sorry for him really. He’s not a bad player but no club needs five specialist wingers and he was never going to get much of a chance. His contract money for 2023 would have been far better spent on a prop or some halfback cover.

Absolutely terrible recruitment getting 5 wingers. Hopefully spend wisely with an extra forward or halfback for next season.
To be fair, when we signed him for the 2022 squad he came from Workington with a good scoring record in League 1. Not sure whether that reflects the difference in standard between the two Divisions, or he simply failed to take his chances. Good luck to him at Whitehaven.
Will Tilleke gone to Rochdale Hornets on loan. Probably for the best, lad needs to play Rugby week in week out.

We had the chance to sign Miller late on in pre season from Bradford otherwise we would of just had the 4 wingers. I'm glad we did as he has been our best winger although is he now injured?
Tilleke has gone for gametime and we have just signed a new prop. It's transfer deadline, we are not clearing the squad. Holroyd is a spare player and we have swapped a young prop out on loan for a new one for a play off push. All good for me.
