Yeah. I’ve just read that. Come out of nowhere. Was expecting north wales to be the one that would be in the news for that from what I’ve heard

I wonder how the RFL Strategic Review addresses the future of the game below SL?

I did note that the review has indicated there will be no increase in the size of SL for the time being. Funny how Nige has come up with this after he made sure of Bradford's promotion.

Rumours of financial difficulty but wow, straight to liquidation! They signed 5 or 6 good players and Eastmond turned down Oldham for the coaching role as well.

I cant see how a totally new club can be formed mid sesson and cant see Featherstone being too happy if the RFL let a new club in either. Explains the loss to Goole at the weekend. What an absolute mess the game is in. And the Championship fixtures are in messed up/season ticket holders a game down again.

Hate looking when fax in trouble but surely all contracts are null and void now Alfie Johnson ex wire would be available Dan okoro ? But nothing really much that would really impact our starting 17

Let’s be thankful that we still have a functioning club, people have naively slandered our board for a lack of ambition.

Right now our club is looking well ran and sustainable compared to rest, let’s hope that can continue.

Reading the news on this, there is still a possibility Halifax can continue - if they are bought out of administration - there should be no penalties as salfraud had none

there was news last year they were in trouble and they had a big funding drive

but time is against them

I openly admit that don't know the ins and outs of a scenario like this, far from it, but if they're contracted, could they be sold for a fee? But........

Who'd get the fee? The liquidators?

As I say, I don't know, and I'm just asking the question, and...........

Purely from a selfish point of view, 'Fax were our "Fev replacements" so it looks like we'll miss out again!

The game I love, and live for, is in a sorry state.

Spelly.

Looking at the bigger picture and the current direction of travel, all this seems like death by a thousand cuts!!

And nobody in Authority seems to want to do anything about it.

The Clubs outside of SL need to break away fast and start living in the real world.

Stop chasing the dream (or should that be nightmare?) get back to basics with part time rugby and centralised contracts (were everyone pays the same win, lose or draw) simply to protect Clubs from themselves. Because if they don't, the Salford's, the Featherstone's, the Oldham's  and now the Panthers will merely be the tip of the iceberg.

Or maybe that was the real plan after all?

Allow Clubs to overspend in pursuit of the impossible dream, go under, thus getting down to the 10 or 12 pro clubs they really wanted in the first place!!

@spelly the love rugby league article says: But that will come with sporting sanctions. As Halifax are now subject to an insolvency event, all of their contracted players automatically become free agents and there remains question marks over the club’s central distribution for 2026.

I don't really know too much about it either.

@spelly The club have been liquidated as of today so all contracts are null and void as Halifax no longer exist. Its different to being in administration where a buyer is found for the current company.

In admin the club could limp along until a buyer is found, possibly sellibëng off a couple of contracted players as was the case when Widnes went into admin (Sam Walters and Jarrod O'Connor sold by the admins)

A new owner may be found to re-launch the club as a fresh company as was the case with Salford, but that was in pre-season. Fax have a game in 6 days time, its just not going to work. Also as the players are free agents they will all sign for other clubs and who can blame them as they no longer have a contract or a conpany that exists to pay them.

If a new club takes over this year, they will get no money from kit sponsors, existing hospitality bookings, season tickets etc. Salford could benefit from this as they are really short of players. I expect other clubs like Batley and Hunslet to pick up a player or 2.

Feel really sorry for the fans as unlike Salford I dont think anyone saw this coming, not this quickly anyway.

Looking at their fixtures, and if the rfl "do a fev" we may end up with games against Batley, Keighley or Swinton.  Depending on the groups for everybody else impacted
