The day the Club went into Administration was merely the start of their problems, not the end of them.
And it was never going to be a quick overnight fix - more like a decade or even longer - whatever one may choose to think.
From where I sit, the Club has no (proper) money to talk of, but more importantly, it has no expertise or knowledge in how to effectively run a successful RL team/club. The coach cannot do it on his own.
Sure, people can say what they like about the players or the coach, but the reality is that until there is some real fundamental change in all of these other areas, then this could be as good as it gets.
@darth-vadar I agree ☝️
the club brought in the bloke can’t remember his name as director of rugby but haven’t heard much about him or what he’s doing.
depending on the next few results kear may find an early release and we have to be looking at who’s available and wants the job which may be the difficult part
we can all agree the squad isn’t a championship winning one so huge clear out needed for us to start competing at the top of championship
Or we could say, we have one of if not the biggest following and best stadium in the league, we can challenge for the playoffs and with some smart investment to our squad who knows
2 of the 3 regular coaches were cancelled yesterday, including Jeannie's, the official club bus.
The natives are getting restless, it will be interesting how many venture to Barrow next week, especially with it being Father's Day.

You don't need money to get the team to give pride and determination what you need is a coach who can it's that fudging simple. The players don't want to play for Kear and despise his tactics thats what is fudging wrong. The day the Club went into Administration was merely the start of their problems, not the end of them.

@pauliewalnuts I know of a few cars that would of made the trip but won't go away again this season

I drove myself, and was talking to a few more who had done likewise. I used to travel on the coach until quite recently, and probably will again, for shorter journeys. I like the freedom of stopping when & where I want, something 51 others may not tolerate, and fair enough. Whitehaven/Worky, was a £50 of diesel day out. I'll be at Barrow, next Sunday, probably only a forty quider! But, it's my team, it's representing my Town, and in recent times, it has been poor fare. But when that bike wheel spins, and your 'spoke' is pointing at 12 o'clock, it's fudging brilliant. We are waiting for the planets to align as they did in the 70's and 80's, and especially 1989. You can't buy that feeling. It will happen again, I may be 'under the sod', but if the Big Man upstairs, says 'It's not your time yet', then I'll be down at Naughton Park to see it.
If fans are not enjoying their rugby, then go and do something else, it's fine, it'll be good for their mental health.

You are quite correct - peaks and troughs. This club has had three or four peaks in it's long history, but mediocrity for the remainder. We all desire the next peak, and there is a generation in the town (maybe two now) who are desperate for the return of the good times as they hear their family members talk about it in years gone by. But the game is a different game now, and like many aspects of life....money talks - and we have none! C'mon You Vikings! Erik
Nice Churchillian speech.Unfortunately fans ARE finding other things to do and it isn't fine at all.More and more empty seats at each home game.We talk about highs and lows, peaks and troughs but things have changed since the 70s and 80s.Time was,if you finished bottom 4 you were relegated and it didn't matter who you were.Even if you were Wigan. If you finished top 4 in the league below then you were promoted and again it didn't matter who you were.Batley or Rochdale with 500 fans. Its not like that anymore. This is as good as it gets for Widnes for the foreseeable future, second division rugby. And we are not even making a half decent fist of it.
Yeah, nothing wrong with having pride and determination. I would expect even amateur teams to have that.
But that will only get you so far.
If you have a small squad filled with average players (and no money or administrative expertise in how to run a successful professional sports club) then it doesn't matter who the coach is, you are destined for mediocrity.
And, isn't that exactly what the Vikings have got at present?
You are contradicting yourself you expect every team to have pride and determination but then you blame a small squad and lack of money, A simple question, do you think we show pride and determination on the field yes or no.Yeah, nothing wrong with having pride and determination. I would expect even amateur teams to have that.

A speech that says nothing about the state of the club or gives an opinion pointless to be preciseNice Churchillian speech.Unfortunately fans ARE finding other things to do and it isn't fine at all.More and more empty seats at each home game.We talk about highs and lows, peaks and troughs but things have changed since the 70s and 80s.Time was,if you finished bottom 4 you were relegated and it didn't matter who you were.Even if you were Wigan. If you finished top 4 in the league below then you were promoted and again it didn't matter who you were.Batley or Rochdale with 500 fans. Its not like that anymore. This is as good as it gets for Widnes for the foreseeable future, second division rugby. Blimey, I'm so emotional not sure i'll sleep tonight
In other news, we are a joke of a club in freefall, crowds disappearing = loss of income, Sgt. Bilko living in cuckoo land with his outdated coaching, players who couldn't give a flying biscuit & a board who talk the the talk but still treat us fans like mushrooms
