Anyone know how long Owens is out ? Both Roby and Dixon seem to have done ok, do we think Jack will definitely be selected upon his return ?
At the fans evening 4 weeks ago Coleman said his hand would be in plaster for a week and then in a splint for a week, then back in training. So he should be fit any time now.
Even when fit, Owens will have to fight to get his place back. He cannot expect to walk back into the team.
His form last season wasn't good; Roby/Dixon have played well at FB so far this year and will be hard to dislodge on current merit.
Team spirit is great, no-one deserves to be dropped.
Club captain or not, I submit Owens will have to wait.
He may have to, depends on AC, but whether he does or not Sunday showed that we have a pretty flexible squad with players who can play in several positions and stick to a game plan.
I means that players with knocks can be rested to recover.
@sunny He will walk straight back in the team people get carried away when someone covering has a decent game.
If he is fit for the Batley game then he should get some game time as he won't have played at all before the start of the league season otherwise.
@prisoner he has been shite for most of the last 2 years now. Stop playing people based off reputation and decent form from 4 years ago
If Dixon and Roby are playing well personally I would keep them in the position. Good coaches should keep who is on form and fight for their place. The games I have seen of Jack Owens has not been very impressive the last few years.
Jack shouldn't walk straight back into the team when fit. It's not like we are talking about a Mick Burke or Alan Tait type of full back.
@prisoner surprised you care, seeing as it's all irrelevant and the games dying
Well Dixon injured and Roby made a few mistakes Sunday, would Jack be better ?
Trouble is can you bench him?
He's the club Captain, he is one of Coleman's 'Generals' on the field. When fit he will be back in. He's better than Roby who is a great lad to give us strength in depth across the back line. Dixon is a winger, and a good one at that. With the recent addition of Murray, we know have more 'go forward' in the pack. Now watch Gilmore come into his own. Langtree will add to the pack strength. We are looking better, but not to get too carried away, because Bradford are shite, and we'll face tougher tests in the weeks ahead.

@pauliewalnuts At least they are leaving Joey alone. Wonder who's turn it will be next week.
Are you suggesting he will automatically play, walk into the team, irrespective of his form over the last couple of years, irrespective of how well Roby/Dixon have played and irrespective of how well the team as a whole has played, coped and been lead in his absence?
I hope not.
