Our backs are very hard working but I did count at least 3 sets in the second half where neither of our specialist Props drove the ball up and they were on at the time.
This isn’t anything new as we’ve been doing it for the last 6 or 7 games. It probably helps conserve energy in the forwards which was a major prob early in the season but it means we become 1 dimensional most of the game.
True enough MA - you can even remember which order the backs drive it in at times: Tyrer, Jack, Deon, Hatton…
Don’t know why people keep asking about Jewitt, been explained plenty of times on here that he was signed by Sheens as more as backroom staff than as a player.
And likewise that Tomkins has got a serious injury!
I thought it was a drab game. Featherstone obviously targeted Lawton through Ferres and Davies and did a good job on him; errors aside, he did well not to react to it which perhaps is a measure of how his temperament and general attitude has improved this season.
We got back in to the game at 14-10 but then seemed to panic a bit and was trying to do the hollywood play every set, rather than just build. Once Fev got one, that broke the belief and the game was gone.
The second try in the first half came off our own basic error, and we made too many of those at our own end to compete.
Just another game, like the York one, where we probably would have won (or at least come a lot closer) had we had two proper forwards on the bench rather than Hill/Brookes just there to make up the numbers.
Tomkins has been out for 4 months now, an update would be perfectly reasonable. Either he's not responded to treatment and is out for the season or he's started running now or anything really. Leeds announced Jack Walker is out for the season with a foot injury, likewise Jamie Shaul and Bevan French.
No one at the club has said Jewitt was signed as part of the backroom staff. He knows Tim Sheens from Hull KR and has a background in sports psychology, but its never been announced. Everyone was under the impression he was signed as a much needed prop. Does he figure in Finnigans coaching plans? Is he involved on match days like Mick Cassidy used to be coming onto the pitch? Is he injured but now helping in an off the field role like Greg Inglis?
Also Dwyer had a hamstring injury a couple of months ago, is that why he hasn't featured? What's up with Farnworth and Clough, do the club have plans for any of the players signed on season long loans to return? Are we going to use the 42k to sign some new players this season or is it for squad retention next year?
What's the plans to improve the game day experience after 19th July as we need to boost the entertainment factor and attract some young fans.
As a fan who's interested it just seems like turn up, watch the game, hope we win sometimes and that's about it.
I agree with Dan 1 , the supporters are the club and have contributed greatly since the charlatans left . Whilst I understand it is after all a business and therefore certain issues cannot be made public , however for the club to receive continuing support there has to be some sharing of information of the various items raised by Dan , along with other questions , for instance why can other clubs obtain loan players from St Helens and we cannot .
My mate supports Runcorn Linnets , a much smaller sports club , but the Chairman has been giving their supporters a weekly news report .
Unfortunately with the club failing to keep the supporters informed it is a clear indication the people running the club have no plan in place for us to move forward .
VIQI recently gave the club 42k , the club has not had the courtesy of telling us what this is going to be used for .
The only way for the owners to retrieve the situation is to immediately address the issues raised with a open meeting for supporters .
I thought I read somewhere that the viqi cash was helping to pay cravens contract extension.
When we were in SL saints never kept it a secret they didn't like our pitch so maybe that's why they won't loan us players.

Didn't they play here a few years back when their ground was being renovated? Can't remember them having a problem with the pitch then. It does seem odd though that we are having a problem in picking up and retaining loans, Maybe it is the pitch.
I agree with other comments that it is about time the club gave an update on the injuries to Tomkins and Jewitt and whether Dwyer is still on the books.
It was a grass pitch when they played here,
Clough and Farnworth are presumably COVID isolation related, as that is what the club said in the 21-man squad release when they were first missing. There's essentially a 17 day isolation period for players, as they have to isolate for 10 days as per government guidelines, and then have another 7 days to integrate back in to training as per RFL return to play protocols.
Finnigan said that Dwyer is struggling to be available due to work commitments.
I think Saints used the Widnes ground before the plastic pitch was installed.
Nothing to do with the pitch
Finnigan said that Dwyer is struggling to be available due to work commitments.
Why sign a player with so much availability issues? Surely it’s be better for both parties now to part ways

Must be a Widnes thing, signing players who don't actually play.Players who struggle to be available due to work, players who aren't really players at all but more like coaching staff.

Maybe his work pattern has changed due to covid, plus you can't just "part ways" with somebody, we would still have to pay him.
Edge has also been isolating for the last week or so.

You sure about that regarding Clough and Farnworth, James? They've been named in the squad in the games missed recently and Finnigan certainly implied (if not said outright) that they had both had injuries.
