@mckviking we have had high profile coaches (sheens) our buying of players has been uninspiring at best keeping the same underperforming players year after year makes no sense if your trying to improve

the feel good factor has gone and the Coleman "soundbites" wearing thin as no improvement (it won't happen again) has in fact happened a couple of times !! We constantly go on about on here that it's money yes some of it is !! But sometimes we lack ambition but I think it'll take more than the 2 players bought to change the direction

@vikingfox71 sheens was a great appointment for us in the championship but when he was told about the financial situation and no more money coming in and lack of ambitions he left and I don’t blame him, why would he want to stick around for that when an opportunity back in Australia came up. I agree with your statement regarding keeping hold of the same players year on year and lack of ambition but we simply don’t have the budget to bring in top players who also want to play for widnes, it’s a club that has a rich history with no money or assets. Our current board have kindly put money into the club but have no experience in running a successful Rugby League club and are volunteering their time which is why we are run like a part time scout hut. I don’t have all the answers but I do believe the club can do more to connect with local businesses/schools/amateur clubs etc

AC is there doing a lot of work out of hours attending the run in the park, quiz nights etc so hopefully the town responds well to that but the on field results need to improve

Until we find investment, we’re just going round in circles.

Players playing every week who just aren’t good enough to challenge at the top of this league.

"We are run like a part time scout hut"  Bit of a sweeping statement. How precisely would you change things? You don't have "All the answers" What answers do have?

@viking32 my comment regarding “part time scout hut” was more in a joking manner. Obviously we aren’t run like a full time club because we don’t have full time staff like a super league club does which is expected. Some suggestions for the club I and many others have suggested on this forum regarding connecting with amateur clubs/schools/ businesses to create investment and community engagement are nothing new

I understand Steve tyrer has been appointed “U18’s” coach but I don’t know much more about that program, I’ve seen some pictures on the social media pages

I feel the club should give all amateur youth players from Widnes and Runcorn free season tickets but accompanied by a paying adult.

All Halton Borough amateur clubs and schools to be visited by players, coaches, board members etc and be entered into a widnes youth cup and schools competition to be played at the stadium maybe even as a curtain raiser before women’s/first team games. Have kemik doing promotional visits to kids youth clubs (if any still exist) and walking around town with a flag getting pictures with people in the town.
I don’t live in Widnes but I’m led to believe no signs or widnes posters for games coming up. It’s good to have a social media presence but it’s also important to get out into the community and spread awareness of what is happening at the stadium.

I’d also like to mention the fact that Bradford and York that I know of have YouTube channels showing games live incorporated with the radio commentary so why don’t Widnes have this? It’s all about getting the “Vikings” brand out there and attracting more fans possibly more sponsorship etc

Today was a sad reminder of our limitations.

I really thought we could do something at 16 all but it didn't happen.

Still feel like we are a ship heading for the rocks.

Just hoping we can finish 9th or above and avoid drama and also actually think about getting some size and power in the pack.

Most disappointing was our seemingly lack of stamina. We ran out of steam!!!

Sad that Fleming could be out long term with his hamstring. Of course some would say he wasn't fast enough, but he looked pretty quick to me!

Had enough of Coleman’s rinse and repeat post match interviews,  the effort was there, injuries, players playing long minutes etc, at the end of the day, the squad is woefully small, woefully lacking in talent and the coach, like the side looks to have run out of ideas. Let’s face facts here, Coleman is here for another 2 years, so let’s just get used to the weekly crap he spouts and lets watch Swinton standard RL.

I agree there is passion but you also need to be good on tactics, set plays and know how to see games through and win. I think recruitment has not been great why sign Bailey,Bennion, Brown,Buckley and Jones if have no intentions of playing them? It just seems a waste of money. This run out of steam is also his fault because he could of played other players and what must Bailey think if two dual players take his spot? Nothing personnel against Jack Owens but for me Max Roberts, Fleming and Edge are better centers than Jack, but always finds a place for him even if playing poorly. The halfbacks are not doing anything creative and we need a running number 6 player. All i here is playing on a shoe string but if carries on more fans do not turn up and that entails even worse recruitment for the following year. Sheffield, Batley, Halifax and Barrow are on a tighter shoe string and are the club being pro active to find new investment otherwise this rubbish rugby will keep occurring.

One of the worst performances I have seen from a Widnes side.

We were way behind Featherston, they had the ambition, the belief, the energy and the confidence.

We have to make improvements in the squad, there is no creativity.

Last season most of our victories were close games if you lose a couple of those your back to where you started 8/9 th position which is what we probably are

we are miles behind York etc and with no pace or creativity our grind game gets you nowhere in these conditions

we as fans need to either accept we are a average championship club or put into vips and see if it makes a difference but the dream of super league is long gone as if nrl take over and make it a ten team league leigh won't get in with 8k crowds light years from where we are/could get

sad but true

Since 2017 every Widnes seasons reads the same “lack of size in the forward pack”, “lack of creativity in the halfs”, “no pace on the wing or in the centres”.

We must sign any player who is on the market regardless of whether he fits what we are looking for or not.

@vikingfox71 Well exactly, cheap and accessible is how we recruit and thats the results we get.

Lyons career has been entirely based on him been local. The fact remains we are the only club in the league who lacks “big props” no other team has these issues.
