It doesn't always pan out that way over the course of a full season, winning  2 out of every 3 or 4 from 6.

Having seen the goings on at other sporting clubs were "investors" have got their mitts on stadiums I'm more than happy for the council to keep this one under their control.

Was that Dale guy from Bury not linked to us?

VIQI will put in £120k this year. I'd be interested to know how much other clubs gain from squadbuilders. I would suggest we do best by a fair distance.

How far does that sort of money go? Also, has it been spent well? Need to make the absolute most of the money you have at your disposal, not sure we do tbh.

@frankg It’s not a disaster Frank but there is an inevitability about us following our usual course. There’s a definition of madness that says you do the same thing over and over again and each time you expect a different result. Sort of sums up our last 5 or 6 years.

I really hope I’m wrong. - perhaps I’m mad 😁😁

Why aren’t we even looking at a supporter buy out? Our owners are loyal fans, who kept us afloat but they can’t afford much more. They said they wanted the club to be owned by it’s supporters so why not?

If 50% + 1 shares were owned by a supporters association the club couldn’t be taken for a ride again, ever, unless we want to be. The remaining 50% - 1 shares could be sold to a ‘sugar daddy’ and they can do whatever they want with the club as long as the supporters agree.

They could put in a plastic pitch and claim it as an investment when it’s actually its a loan or launder money from other dodgy businesses, but only if the supporters agree.

We don’t need a rich investor who doesn’t know Widnes anyway, if we have 50 or 100 well off investors who love the club.

We all know the board mean well for the Widnes club, but are they looking for new investment. It just seems they are happy running the club, as an average Championship side. The clubs doing well like Leigh and Featherstone have a money man. Be nice to get a buzz in the Town, and something to talk about again. 🥖🥖🥖

Without loads of money the club is doing as well as can be expected

Its possible a few of the lads could make careers in super league but in reality not many.We also have nobody with marketing expertise, although merchandising is as good as we are going to get. Media and events management and game day experiences are all poor.

On the playing front fans need to take a look at just who we have beaten and who has trashed us, imo we have been in a false position and until the coaching improves a play off place will not be easy.

We’ve beaten London away who people thought we would struggle against, then Workington by 60, then Dewsbury away, were a lot of people thought we would lose,  then Halifax away, but that apparently was because it was a muddy pitch and we’ve got loads of big forwards 🙄. Then beaten by full time Leigh, then losing to barrow when we had a perfectly good try disallowed, while they were given a try with 2 forward passes in it, and we had a player sin binned and put on report, who was found to have no case to answer. We then played very poorly in our last match at York.

So apparently to some people on here, that means we are now a rubbish team, who are as bad or worse than last years team, and will end up in the bottom 4 of the table.

@farnworth-viking it isn’t about us being a ‘rubbish team’ it’s a genuinely good conversation about our current state as a club, what we can expect and looking at possible ways we could potentially improve as a club going forward. It’s about the future of the club mate.

I haven’t lived in widnes for a while but are the club doing much these days to get people interested again after Covid like sending players into schools or players mixing with the public and handing out stuff like fixture lists and stuff like that

They are holding another kids training camp each day during the Easter holidays, where parents can book their children in the camp, where they can practice rugby, and other sports at the stadium, with Jack Owens Ste Tyrer and others teaching the kids, and it’s free.My great nephew went to the last one and really enjoyed it, and is going again at Easter.

I think it’s a good idea to get kids interested in RL and Widnes in particular.

Interesting comments, personally would welcome a big investor ( not sure why anybody would ) I think pascal with his passion and banging his baguettes together, when he wins the lottery is my choice.

but I think looking back to 2 years ago I think we are doing well

enjoy the ride people, otherwise you will be sucking lemons like dire fans

If I win the lottery I am definitely investing in the club. I will hire one of the boxes rather than the Gold seats and baguettes on the menu. 😂🥖🥖👍

The only investor we will ever get is some dodgy business man wanting planning permission in the town. Don't fall for this owning your own ground reaps dividends. Take Barrow as an example a few hundred people buying a pie and a pint won't rake in much money after insurance fees and stewarding costs where as Widnes just pay a set rent all in, add to that the upkeep etc it gets one thinking.

On the playing front fans need to take a look at just who we have beaten and who has trashed us, imo we have been in a false position and until the coaching improves a play off place will not be easy.

If you own your ground, you can make money from it seven days a week.

Exactly right you run a social club eg last nights game on , players v fans competitions pool darts always making money! These days our fans are spread out before and after a match giving custom to other venues when those revenue streams could be for the club ! Even buying the bowler would be a better investment and having a match zone every game bouncy castles hotdogs etc better than money wasted on some of our signings recently
