Big game ------

--------- for us both on Sunday!

Even though the campaign is only in the embryonic stage, two out of form teams, who'll both be desperate for a win, will be out there on the park at your gaff.

We're the basement boys, and you're only one place above us, so it's gonna be interesting!

I'm not holding my breath for a free flowing contest, with some classic football, but I'll (as I'm sure, as you will too) just settle for the precious two points!

Spelly.

Yes , just let that sink in . Thats were we are at currently , worrying about playing Swinton at home .

I've watched Widnes since 73 and cant recall being nervous about the prospect of a clash between the two of us before .

How Spelly must look back to the 1963-64 season when Swinton won their sixth Championship, with lowly Salford next to bottom (12th) in the second division.

Widnes were a lowly 12th in the Championship and drew Swinton in the quarter finals round of the Challenge Cup - drawing 5-5 in front of a crowd of 19,000 at Naughton Park, followed by a scoreless draw at Station Road, with Widnes winning 15-3 in the second replay at Wigan in front of a crowd of 21,369.

Maybe we can muster the spirit of '64 and beat Swinton on Sunday - 15-3 will do for me!!! We could soar to around 9th place, just one point off a play-off place. What is everyone worried about - but we could also be bottom of the league!!!!

See 100% Widnes win predicted on Pat Price Prediction League, excluding Spelly, who for some reason has gone for a Swinton win. There is still some confidence left in the team!!!

Think most of us predict a Widnes win in hope rather than expectation Frank. For me a win against Swinton wont change my opinion of where we are at as a team in the grand scheme of this league , that we are not a contender. A loss (praying its not) would cement us in a relegation dogfight .

Last time we actually lost at home to Swinton was I believe back in the dark days of West.

I think a defeat on Sunday would confirm that this is Long/West era Mark II.

We have better players, all that’s needed for a win is pride in the shirt and some team spirit.

I remember us losing at home to Swinton when we were at or near the top of the league. Think we signed Joe Grima pretty much on the strength of his perfomance in that game. What a top player he was!

Yes lost 20-21.

Don't think Les Holliday joined Widnes till 89 tho.
