So if someone comes in for abdull we let him go ? We don't try and compete every season players leave but for him to go salford is worrying yet again we stand still

why not ask for a transfer fee or Salford pay his contract up so he's a free agent we make it too easy

Contracts don’t seem to be worth the paper they are written on these days

@farnworth-viking not worth signing players for a year if they leave in 6 months got paid all through winter and leaves after 6 games and we get nothing for him !?

yet it's us who are disadvantaged short on players then have to recruit new players so that should be worth compensation wether that's a transfer fee or payment of his contract we need to toughen up

PT players looking for a contract next season can’t afford to sit in the stands all season

@mckviking He's signed a multi year deal with Salford so is already sorted for next year. My point is why cant Widnes players finish the season off with the club having agreed a deal for next season with another club? Thats how it used to work and still does. Cameron Smith has signed a deal with Wakefield for next season but is still playing for Leeds this year.

We seem to agree to release contracted players more than most. I dont get why we cant say ok you have agreed a 2 year deal from next season with someone else, but you are contracted to us for the rest of this season so crack on, do your best and enjoy playing for the club!

Just because a player is moving on, not unusual at all, why does he have to leave straight away?

I can understand it if he had received an offer of a full-time contract with a SL club, it would be difficult to hold on to him, but not a move to Salford. Surely, they cannot be in a position to offer a better deal than Widnes.

We just seem to allow players to leave, who presumably are under contract. Why couldn't we have held him to his contract for this season, unless or until we got a replacement? If Salford want him him this season, we perhaps could have loaned him out with a right of recall, or they should have paid a transfer fee.

The next thing is that we get a few injuries and Coleman (and the fans) will be moaning that we are having to play players out of position.

I know this season (and maybe future seasons too) is meaningless, with really nothing to play for in a nothing league, but decisions like this will only drive more fans away. Just what is the point of the Championship in the current set-up? The game below SL is being allowed to wither away and it is sad to see, but never mind we can all go to Las Vegas and New York to see the latest SL dream.

I really want Sky to pull the plug on SL and those running the game (on inflated salaries) will then have to address salvaging the game in its true heartland, with potential expansion on a realistic level, and forget about Las Vegas, New York and all the rest of the hype we hear about SL. Maybe the game is dead already.

I suppose we let these players go straight away so we don't have to pay them anymore. I know they're squad value but perhaps the reality is we prioritise saving money over squad depth. If we get a couple of injuries and find ourselves short, we'll probably just loan someone.

Nature of 2nd division RL.

Looking at Salford's results, I'm guessing their wage bill is very low.

Also when can you talk to players from ? Is it March ? We seem to lose players earlier every year and don't gain any

I heard Coleman wasn’t that impressed with Bibby that’s why he’s letting him go. Even if that’s true, we should still keep him, until we have another player lined up to sign.
